My current machine (about a year old now, I think?) is running these bits and pieces:

    • AMD FX-8150 CPU - in hindsight, this was a bad idea
    • AMD Radeon 7950 - 3GB Sapphire OC edition
    • 2 TB Hitachi-brand hard drive - about three quarters of it filled with too many Steam games
    • 16 GB Corsair something-or-other RAM
    • Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi - I wouldn't usually buy a sound card, but it was a gift and I'm pretty happy with it
    • 650W Corsair PSU - TX650, I can switch the thing on and off, so I'd assume it's a decent one

All packed into the rather gargantuan NZXT Phantom Full Tower case.
The keyboard is a Sidewinder X4, the mouse is a Sidewinder X8 (formerly a RAT 9, but the batteries died).
Also a wireless Xbox 360 controller and racing wheel set up with it too.
The monitor is an old 21" Dell from a previous computer. Nothing fancy, but it gets the job done.

I'm pretty happy with it overall.

My beastie is almost up for replacement, I'm estimating Q1 2015 for a new machine. I've had the base chassis since Q4 2008 and repeatedly upgraded since. This machine currently runs openSUSE Linux 13.1.

    - Tyan S2915-E (dual Socket F)
    - 2x AMD Opteron 2435 (6 cores per CPU, 2.6GHz)
    - 16GB DDR2 800MHz Registered/ECC
    - GTX 590
    - Intel RS2WC040 RAID controller
    - 512GB Samsung 840 Pro SSD
    - 2x 3TB 7200rpm Hitachi HDD
    - 1x Blu-ray burner, 1x BD-ROM/DVD burner combo drive, 2x DVD burner
    - PCI-E 802.11n controller
    - PCI-E USB 3.0 contor
    - Antec Titan 650 case with 1000W Antec PSU

    Peripherals:

    - Apple LED Cinema Display (27")
    - Some cheap and nasty Philips 22" display with a TN panel
    - Microsoft wireless keyboard & mouse
    - Altec Lansing FX5051 5.1 surround sound system
    - Wacom PTH651 tablet
    - Spyder 3
    - USB 3.0 card reader

When I do finally upgrade I'll be cannibalising the RAID controller, SSD, Blu-ray burner and wireless card, along with all the peripherals.

    Server:
    Dell PowerEdge 1900
    2x Xeon E5345 (2.33GHz quad core CPUs)
    32GB RAM (cannibalised)
    6x 2GB 7200rpm Hitachi HDDs (configured as RAID5 w/hot spare, 7.275TB usable)
PCI-E dual port gigabit Ethernet controller

    Laptop:
ThinkPad X230 with IPS panel and backlit keyboard
    i5-3320M @ 2.6GHz
    16GB RAM
    512GB Samsung 830 SSD
9 cell main + 6 cell slice batteries (good for roughly 15 hours on the road)
