Why not Weasyl get an Adspace on FA? [Suggestion to site owners]

Heya Hello Weasyl Staff. You guys do have a rather stable site that offers a large amount of submission types that others don't offer, but it is still pretty quiet even after all this time. I've come back on occasions to check on it and post this and that. I hear it mention off hand every few months as well, but not too often. I think that weasyl could use some advertisement to reach out to more audience once more.

Sadly, I can't really offer suggesting other advertising opportunities that you can do without breaking wallet, as the furry sites are kind of the sites that promote helping creators while sites like DA's ad service is more focused towards large scale businesses and super expensive. The ads on FA do reach a large amount of people, though, and I'd suggest perhaps have a human artwork in the ad somewhere as well to try to appeal to diversity. So far reaching out to folks has been pretty reliant on word of mouth, and in all cases I see people comment how "weasyl is pretty deserted" which isn't the best word of mouth promotion.

I could also suggest creating a DeviantArt group focused around this art site to help promote Weasyl on DeviantARt, too, to reach out to the non-furry artists as well. Collect fanArt of your Mascot drawn by DeviantArtists to help promote both the website, the character, and urge more artists to draw the character too. It'd be more work than needed, so its a bit of a hassle of a suggestion. I didn't see a weasyl group, though. https://groups.deviantart.com

It's actually something currently in the works.
We had testing for it last year, and I think there was few bugs to smooth out before going live. Since then other major site updates and features have had priority.

At this point I can not say when the feature will be live, but I know the team would hopefully like to have it out before the end of the year. *fingers crossed*

So, I found another way for me to help advertise Weasyl a bit, however it's kinda more my own personal advertising. I've been linking my Artwork from weasyl onto the r/furry reddit instead of my FA ones for a bit. That's the only Word of mouth type stuff I know I can do myself that will reach a good amount of people. There aren't many folks who pay much heed to the artsites I link in my art descriptions or other artsite profiles, or any journals. (Who likes reading anyways?)

(((And because other Art Reddits really don't like linking to the art piece on its art site. Makes it hard to advertise your art site on anything but r/furry)))

I personally do that on my own FA, and there are uploads exclusive to this site, but a larger effort from the site itself, such as those already suggested, make a bigger impact.

Posting an ad for Weassyl on FA sounds like a good idea, however, I'm not sure they would really allow it as we are pretty much their competition. It also feels like it'd be a not so nice thing to do. It'd be like if Tim Horton's(Or Dunkin' Donuts) was handing out ads inside of a Starbucks.

I actually made an ad for Weasyl and have shelled out the fees to have it posted in Con books for a few local conventions. I'd like to revise it and make it look better before sending out to larger cons though.

Weasyl also at one point had a Facebook group and a Tumblr. They worked great when the website was taking off and was in it's early stages. Since then they have died off drastically, and we ended up removing them due to inactivity and lack of interest for users to engage with those accounts. I currently have a project I'm working on that will hopefully bring the activity levels to the site and increase traffic. That's still in the works though. If it works then perhaps we will see about opening our doors again on other platforms.

Anyway, I'm not opposed to users advertising Weasyl as they so choose, as long as they are being respectful and representing Weasyl in a positive way, and not violating any rules, ToS or guidelines of wherever they may be posting.

Other art sites have used FA to advertise before. You can always ask Dragoneer about it directly, or through their Ad email if you aren't sure. (Though it might take a bit longer going through their Ad Email). I asked before what kinds of sites I would have been allowed to link to myself, and I was told that as long as it involves the creative community it's pretty much a go. I asked last year if that info's important.

As for Tumblr. Tumblr's really tricky. I learned that if you don't get an interaction with your post, that post won't show up in your search, even in recent search. So Tumblr's kind of set up in a way where you have to post regularly for your content to stay seen. (Facebook is basically the same way, but Facebook keeps making it harder to reach people who even Like your page.)
