While technically is the best kind of correct, it gives it a hue of questionability.
"To tell us that every species of thing is endowed with an occult specific quality by which it acts and produces manifest effects, is to tell us nothing; but to derive two or three general principles of motion from phenomena, and afterwards to tell us how the properties and actions of all corporeal things follow from those manifest principles, would be a very great step." -Issac Newton, Optics

Just being honest. We've always been a general art site, but there's currently no denying that furries seem to use the site more than anyone else. That said, I do still run across non-furry galleries, and furries are also comfortable posting their own non-furry artwork here.

I am struggling to find the motivation to post, discouraged about being discarded for not having the right kind of content for the majority of the community. Is it silly to stay? Hanging out somewhere where the majority's interests align but not with your own?
I think it makes sense to stay. Just because most people here are furries, doesn't mean they can't appreciate others kinds of art. I'm a non-furry artist too. It's kind of interesting to be in a place with a different culture.

However, I will say that lately I have wondered if the amount of furry art versus non-furry art has gone up...when I first joined here, I would often see non-furry stuff on the front page along with the anthro stuff. Now I frequently see the front page without a single piece of non-furry art.

That's not a fair comparison though. If you a talking about sites like DeviantArt, ConceprtArt.org, Elfwood, etc., they are very different from Weasyl in regards to what content can and does get uploaded (e.g. pornographic content).

Sayum, could you let us know what you goals as an artist are? What type of career do you want to get into? We'd be able to give more helpful advice if we know what artistic path you want to take.

It was just a comment on word usage.

I closed my account on another site and have been looking for an alternative. The design here attracted me, however, every time I came to check it out the proliferation of furry art kept me from registering. I have nothing against furry artists, I like a lot of the submissions I’ve seen, but like the op I felt like I would be out of place.

It’s just by chance I had another look and saw this thread. I’m glad I saw it and the responses as they gave me a reason to go ahead and register. I’m not going to worry about the quality of my work or the type of content anymore. I’ll get back to drawing and start posting.

I feel the same as pretty much everyone else. Since the site is for artworks of all kinds, instead of narrowing it you should stay and broaden it. I'm an animal artist (not as much anthro art but I don't consider myself a furry, however I draw furry-related art) looking for a place to spread my interests to people who share them. I didn't expect this site would have such a large population of furry artists, which is good for me, but I also enjoy other art and encourage it just as much as anything else. Stay and help broaden the community! Got other artist friends on other art sites, maybe guide them here and that will cause an increase in the amount of non-furry artists also.

STAY! There's a lot oft furry art because of the majority ratio, AND that Non-fur artist leave becaus ethey think they are alone.

The site's content won't even out if no Human artists take there time into this site.
I really like seeing the variety on here, but a lot of people give up without putting in much effort.
Like everyone else said, you can help make this place a little less lonely.

Encourage other Artist types to stay by commenting and making your own presence known.
Give to others what you'd like to see for yourself. Interaction. Knowing your not alone. Welcomed.
I try to do as much as I can myself. I'll comment on any art that catches my eye.

Actively change the site and make it a home with your own power.

Definitely stick around, whether it be just on the forums or main site -- the more the merrier. Regardless of the content, if you're good your talent will shine through and catch people's attention over time!

I don't see any reason why this website and forum cannot diversify into other art types. Furry is just a major common interest. These forums are replete with many other subjects of interest beyond furry.
