Where are the readers?

Purely curious.

Where are the readers? Is the traffic on Weasyl so low that nobody stops by? I thought there was a pretty good base here but, since updating my page with all of my stories and uploading new stories/art, there is little to no increase in readership. There are few people popping up on art/commission pieces too.

So, what's the trick? I'm missing something and I hope that someone can point me in the right direction. I'm confident in my skill and I've built up a good base (1000+ on each) on FurAffinity & SoFurry, but it's starting to make little sense to check Weasyl when the traffic isn't here.

What helps writers on this site? How do we reach readers? Is there something on the forums that I'm missing?

I just don't think they're there. Weasyl seems to exclusively have a fanbase for visual art, not literature.

I don't know. Sometimes it seems like creating a new writing community is like trying to herd okapi. You find one or two and then they vanish into the forest because they need to get back to work on their own projects.

I can only speak as an artist but Weasyl isn't simply smaller but has a rather distinct userbase in terms of preferences, if you compare it to the other websites.
Sofurry is usually where the stories have the bigger spotlight. The interface is pretty reader and writer friendly.

There is only one side in the fandom that I care about, so I can't really say I'm a reliable potential reader.

I'm not sure which part of it makes you say that.
When I said "only one side" I wasn't refering to "visual art". There are probably more stories I have enjoyed reading than there are pictures.
