Her back arched to press into Sev's touch. It feels so good... She moaned audibly. She hung her head backwards to let her chin sit right below Sev's snout and closed her eyes, just enjoying his scent and the moment. He approached her with his future plans. She blinked, thoughts not processing at the moment. "What do you mean?" She asked, blinking again. "Do I get to come with you?" She tended to be spontaneous, and rarely thought plans through.

Just then she heard the satyr screech. She winced and spun around, tripping on a stone in the river bed. She fell into the water with a 'SPLASH', which washed the suds away. She bolted up and dashed to the source of the cry, her motherly instincts kicking in. She sensed pain in that cry and intended to do aything she could to help.

Reaching the satyr, she cradled him in her arms, stroking his head. "Are you ok?" She wore a deeply worried look. "Tell me what hurts."

The satyr still shuffled forward feebly and when Mei grabbed it up it then collapsed in her arms. The atrophied second set of arms tried to reach up to her but they only moved and inch or two before they fell back into the water. They were looking more shriveled and pallid by the minute. Its upper set of arms grabbed her shoulders for support and its large eye kept rolling around as it cried hot tears. The tissue death was apparently not easy to handle since it was happening so fast.

When Mei asked what hurt its top right arm just reached down and pointed to the suffering second set which still quivered now and again.
"Pain... Deafth..." It whimpered before going completely limp. It gave a shuddering breath before passing out.

Tears welled up in Mei's eyes as she shook his shoulders, trying unsuccessfully to prevent him from going unconscious. She couldn't stand seeing anyone in pain. "Sev, help me carry him up the bank, he's hurt!" She cried with urgency. Once up the embankment, she hurriedly gathered her kindling and supplies. She struck her flint until a spark caught, then gently coaxed the fire to a small blaze. She walked over to the unconscious creature, sat down, and rested his head in her lap. She stroked his hair with her left paw while holding her right on his cheek. She began to hum a lullaby that she remembered from when she was a pup. Tears began to fall, landing on the creatures large eyelid.

    All The Pain...

As a new wave flowed through the Spiritual river, Sev winced, all three eyes briefly closed. Ears finally hearing the screech. Energy... flowing towards the sound of distress. Not as intensely overwhelming as the Expulsion, but... hrrrrrrrrr...! It seemed all those Deities were up to their old mischief. And Mei.......

....... she went down, then up, then to their Third. This time, Sev... nearly went with her. Just a small, few seconds delay, as he shook his head, wobbled on his feet... almost ended up tripping and falling into the water, himself as he followed her. Saw her tears. Heard her pain. Each of them seemed destined for pain, ever since they'd come together. Serendipity, in this instance, most unkind. But this was the way of Life. Yes, Sev couldn't help but feel frustrated, mentally and physically.

    However...

He was not one to whine. Not one to just stand there drooling. Not one to bite his claws in anxiety or... Sev was Kah'Saun. Not only that, but a "preacher's" son. His father, a patient teacher, even though his son did not feel lead to follow in his footsteps. Seemed... uninterested. But Sev had been paying attention. Learned things. Just... never practiced, much. Other interests in the fore. So...

... he still tried. For Mei's sake...

... "I don't know if this will help, but I......."

He hadn't answered Mei's questions, this new emergency far more important to deal with. One thing he'd learned from his father... how to deal with pain, how to ease both the living and the dead. The importance of closure. So Sev risked further pain, knelt beside Mei, turned all three eyes... opened his Third Eye wide as he could, so he.......*

....... Hnnnnnnn....... Their Third's aura had faded, the halo now gone. Faded back into what it had been before. Vague. Loose. Ahhh... yes! Sev almost bit his tongue as he looked deeper, laid his subhands against satyr chest. Heartbeat pulse. Breathing rhythm. Sev... finally started to realize... no, he couldn't be sure. So... hard to focus! He'd never put so much of his own Spirit into this skill. Mei... yes, if they ever became more than friends, he would still be leaving. Would still return to his own kind to mate, to raise offspring. But Mei... no matter the species, his intent and intense curiosity, his natural Spiritual Awareness, made experience... relationships... more than just a physical fling. Sev cared about what lived on the inside of everyone he met. Male or female. But this... Third. He......*

....... a sharp intake of breath.

All three eyes tightly closed, ears back and down, quills vibrating in ruffled mane, Sev curled his tail around Mei... part also encompassing their Third, their unconscious saytr guest...

... "I'm sorry, Mei... I don't... I'm not sure what to do. He's... outside my experience and skill."

For perhaps the first time, Mei now had a clear impression this young, exotic male she felt so drawn to wasn't... perfect.

The satyr twitched in its unconscious state. Sometimes an ear or its leg or one of its arms. Sometimes its face would scrunch up. Whatever Sev did, even probing and trying to relieve pain, it did make the satyr's face seem less pained. It relaxed a little bit.

The second set of arms finally shriveled up completely, drawing tight against its body before falling off of it. Small wounds remained where the arms had fallen off. The wounds bled for a moment, but then visibly began closing up. Eventually, the satyr was snoring loudly and didn't look hurt anymore. Just still very gaunt and tired. It nuzzled Mei's lap, comforted by her and Sev's presence. It then began to drool... a lot. The discarded arms laid on the ground looking like they had belonged to a mummy; desiccated and oddly preserved.

Mei watched, astonished, as Sev attempted to ease the pain of the fallen creature. "Its ok, Sev. You've done your best." She consoled him, setting her paw on top of one of his hands. "The rest is up to our strange friend here." She sniffled, another tear rolling down her cheek.

The arms fell. Mei yelped in surprise, almost jumping back but she held her ground. Still breathing rapidly, she watched as the wounds began to close. The creature was snoring and drooling. "Whatever you did, it seemed to have some effect..." she said to Sev, her heart rate slowing down. She caressed the creatures face once, then leaned against Sev's shoulder, the satyrs head still in her lap. She didnt want to risk waking him. Closing her eyes she began to hum another lullaby. The song was both beautiful and sad.

    Lullabies and Busy Times...

Unlike Mei, Sev didn't yelp. He'd been expecting these "alien" arms to fall off, the way they were going away Spiritually as well as physically. He still didn't understand... suspected things, but had no basis for firm belief. Decided... decided to wait and see.

    Mei...

Her words helped, but he still felt the frustration, felt the homesickness. If only his father had been here... yes, with that thought, he knew his Wanderlust was near over. Remembered family and....... *

....... Mei's lullaby was much too sad. Something deep is Sev's heart melted then. Perhaps something like what happened to the Grinch when he finally understood the meaning of Christmas. Not quite the same, but like. This sudden realization gave Sev the chills, but then warmed him to his bones. He remembered...

... his own rapid breathing calmed, the pain behind his Eye soothed. He smiled, gently hugged Mei, then took her sad lullaby and turned it into a song he remembered from years ago, his own voice... his own hum... like some exotic instrument played from his very Soul. A voice to touch the Spirit. Open. Free. Hopeful. In the dark of now-night, moon, stars and lantern the only light, Sev gave Mei a kiss on top of her head, then slowly moved away. Despite everything, he had a camp to make, a meal to make ready.

Much to do before they could sleep till morning.

Gun-belt retrieved and fasted round his waist again. Lantern set near Mei and their Third, but not too close. Back to his skimmer and remaining gear, he unpacked his compact tent-shelter and began setting up camp.......*

The melody that Sev sang was enchanting and beautiful, it left her feeling in-touch with herself and those around her. She smiled when Sev kissed her on the head and ran her paw down his arm as he left. Her own stomach was growling at this point, so she gently lifted the thirds head and set it on a towel on the ground so as not to wake him. She walked to the pile of fish and carefully washed each one again. She gathered some long sticks and built a small spit over the fire. As she grilled the fish, she continued hummimg a combination of her own and Sev's melodies, eyes twinkling in the firelight.

[OOC: Gosh really sorry I've been holding this up. I was planning on posting much sooner, but he's unconscious and it has been tough for me to come up with if he's dreaming or anything to really describe in this instance. So you guys go ahead and keep posting.]

There did not seem to be any response from the afflicted satyr. Even when they were singing it was hard to tell if it was being comforted or if anything was getting through. It would snore out of its mouth loudly and smack its lips every now and again. The amount of drool made it seem like a leaking faucet.

    Firelight, Moonlight...

    How could firelight be forgotten...?

As Mei cooked fish, Sev continued with his own work, a glance towards her, glad she'd taken the cooking. What with all the delays... well, he still felt that well of warmth and content, even though "possibilities" with her had twice now been interrupted. And he'd lost his daylight. But he'd been prepared for both, brought light in case he couldn't beat the darkness, along with the expectation of being alone, way out here. Hrrrr... not alone now, with Mei. And with their "drool fountain" still out, over there. Still a puzzle Sev didn't know how to solve. If this puzzle could be solved.

    Sigh....... *

At least the moonlight gave their meadow campsite aid. His lantern's light, a boost. Ahhh, no, can't forget the romance! A single, glowing moon seemed a universal cue for love... though more moons never hurt. Yes, looking back at all the females he'd made love with, he could honestly say he did, indeed, love every one. Temporary as they'd been. The scar on his back, proof of his love... Maria... his wonderful Mars... so hurt herself, so in need of love... his cherishment and protection. The scar, also a reminder of how that oh so brief relationship had ended. He'd survived, she'd... well, he still missed her. Missed them all. Would miss Mei.......

....... he had no more work left to do. Tent up, gear and supplies transferred and secure. Mei still...

... "Hi..." Sev approached, firelight and moonlight both washed over his bare hide, both reflected in the twinkle of his own eyes, all three intent on her. In his right primehand, a small bottle of spice held out to her... "Need some help?" His ears were slightly back, mane and quills relaxed, tail's tip aflick, though his pose held alert tension, as if unsure he could "safely" continue his potential relationship with her without something else happening.......
