Is the average Weasyl user LESS tolerant to fetish-driven art?

Sodomy is still illegal in many places. Including some states in the US.
What about drug use? Illegal, but still acceptable despite that? Why, why not?
To some people, any bodily fluid or excretion is literally just as disgusting as scat.
Vore has strong overtones of murder, rape, and cannibalism built into it, all extremely illegal(not to mention pretty universally morally wrong). You can exclude all those things if you want but the core idea is still rooted in them. Still more acceptable than babyfur?
Conversely, many babyfurs avoid nsfw art like the plague because they're not fucking pedos. Quite a few either don't wear diapers for real or if they do wouldn't soil one if you paid them. And ageplay, between two consenting adults? So far as I know there's no laws anywhere against that. I'd be a little surprised if there was.
Hell, master/slave relationship and such. Slavery is illegal. Where's the line? Is it fine cuz someone says they agreed to it? what if they're under coercion or they've been conditioned? what if someone's fantasy is to SAY that's the case when really they're there 100 voluntarily and they'd kill the fantasy and leave in a second flat if their dom did something they shouldn't?

Funny things about lines in the sand, sand isn't very stable. It moves around with the wind. Lines fade. New lines can appear on their own naturally. Not a very solid place to draw a lasting line.

As someone who avidly dislikes such forms of art, I find it extremely frustrating that such things are not tagged or rated accordingly.

You can draw whatever the hell you want, and I don't care, I just wish I didn't have to SEE it all the time.

That's one of the compromises of having a website that hosts porn as part of its mission. Even if all of the users of the site try to appropriately tag their content, mistakes happen. On average however, users are not that diligent in tagging their content.

I totally understand why it's allowed though. One of the staff members said that not allowing porn would kill the popularity of the site as a furry-friendly gallery. I understand the sentiment and it's probably correct for the demographic that Weasyl is targeting, but a lot of the research I'm doing on the furry fandom for work shows that is not necessarily the case. Not allowing porn doesn't hurt patronage in general, but I suppose it will if you are trying to target multiple demographics at once that don't overlap. (To clarify I'm not saying furry and non-porn don't overlap. There's a whole lot more out there than just FA and Weasyl.)

I must admit that my block list have gotten more and more fetish words in it.
It's not that I particularly dislike fetish art, but more that I've already seen it all. That's what it feels like at least.

After a while you just realise that 99% of art, for any given fetish, is the same 6-7 drawings being redrawn with new characters over and over and Over again. The bar is set So tragically low because of the huge viewer count such things will gather regardless of skill level, execution and originality.

That 1% of new ways to express the fetish are not worth it to me, I am not interested in the fetish it does nothing for me. I'm here for the art, and I've already seen it all.
That said I don’t think that the dislike for fetish and general smut is greater on Weasyl than anywhere else. It’s just that you should be able to avoid it completely here if you don’t want to see it… So when people fail to tag prober, those who don’t wanna see it Will get upset and let know.

I don't want to see it. I have little kids running around, so I almost never browse art sites because people, for whatever reason, seemingly refuse to rate their images appropriately. I don't want to see giant boobs or nudity or suggestive poses, or or or... I don't care what other people draw, but please please please... PLEASE rate your work as mature so that I don't traumatize my kids. D=

As an aside, one of the reasons I get frustrated with fetish/porn type artwork here is the fact that there are several other websites out there that are geared towards that. I'd love to have a site where I didn't have to worry about that sort of thing making a constant appearance.

As far as that kind of content being less artistic, well, I think that's a silly argument, honestly. There is plenty of squeaky-clean art out there that is more or less lacking in depth and creativity, and I'm sure the same can be said for mature content as well. It's not as if that issue is exclusively one or the other. Crappy art exists on both fronts.

This is an ancient thread but I want to put my two cents in here too.

I'm alright with suggestive and outright nsfw art, my problem is "exotic" fetishes; Diaperfurs, babyfurs, scat, and the like. Fetishizing diapers and babies is already borderline pedophilia, scat is just downright disgusting. Call it kinkshaming if you wish, but my disdain of diaper/baby fetishes has some justification.

There are fetishes that I have and there are some that I tolerate, but I drew that line in the sand on things that are borderline illegal.

As opposed to things like creampies and blowjobs, which are just wholesome and healthy If it's not your thing, it's probably going to seem unappealing and weird. That doesn't mean it actually is, or that your favorite fetish or sex act isn't equally disgusting to other people. Other than actual illegal acts, "creepy" or "disgusting" are gonna be subjective and based on one's tastes, and not realizing that just seems...kind of egotistic.

No, sorry, but anything taking baby/children related topics and sexualizing them is not cool. There are certainly issues of "taste", but you have to draw the line somewhere. Not everything is okay. I realize this might draw negative response in some circles, but I stand by my statement.

As a working professional artist I can't host my work here because Weasyl allows porn/fetish artwork. I've spoken to some of the people I work with about it, and even though many of us create artwork that is totally within the furry wheelhouse, they wouldn't host their galleries here for the same reason.
