It's fandom based music. Scify, Anime, Star Trekk, Steampunk and the like all have people making music based on a fandom they belong to.

Here's a link to Bucktown Tiger's Waggin' Like Us,

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rAGu...s&spfreload=10

For the most part these performers do other peoples music. Don't know if you've seen this vid,

Glad to see there's more shows like this happening at cons,

So yes, the music scene is getting bigger within the fandom. Not just videos posted on youtube anymore.

To be fair, it's hard for the fandom to expand when most people already belong in it.

I haven't listened to any of these links yet, but hold on a moment here. All of those things you just listed either use music from other, actual genres or are a music genre unto their own (Steampunk). We can explain that while Steampunk's sound is very debated, Steampunk music definitely has a specific quality to it that makes it Steampunk music rather than just the genre it is influenced by. So my question is, is there a specific quality that makes their music furry music or is it merely aesthetics and lyrics alone?

I want to say furry music is determined on if there is an anthro character on the album cover. Other than that, the definition of furry music is like that of an enigma.

Furry music is music written about furry. The genre doesn't matter. So I'd say for now it's both lyrics and aesthetics. As far as the steampunk sound. I've heard that 'sound' in the 70's on up. New age, Alternative, experimental. Doesn't matter what it was called. I'm guessing Steampunk adopted it for it's etherial qualities.

It would be hard to guess what sound or genre the fandom would settle on. Personally I'm hoping none. Keep it diverse and creative. As diverse and creative as the fandom is now.

Oly, I'm a musician too. I'm more deep blues and R&B. Like you I don't make furry music. But would still jump at the chance to play at a convention.

Noting sad about that Eagle GodHeart. Mountain dulcimers are cool! Three or four string? What's your tuning? Is your instrument fully fretted or fretted to a major scale? There's a name for that but it's eluding me at the moment. I'll PM you because we'd get way off topic.

Hmm, according to your logic, Black Metal is furry music...
...Provided that it's theme, Satan, is a furry too.
    How... Exquisite!

Also, deep blues musician, you say? Tell me please, what instruments do you play?
I am a jazz drummer. Jazz, blues and cabaret have always been my dirty passions.
