    Non-furry artist recommendations

Seeing as Weasyl is intended to be a general art site I'm a bit concerned the initial marketing to the furry community followed by the staggered exodus from FA will lead to furry content excluding all others from here.

It's been refreshing to see artists I've only previously known for their furry work able to post content from other fields, but I'm aware I'm still only watching "furry artists".

Do you know some non-furry artists on this site you'd recommend?
Have you recommended the site to any non-furry-specific artists?

Would love to hear about both!

I'd recommend myself, but I've been posting a lot of furry commissions lately. :v

    For serious now, though:

No offense but I believe you are wrong. I'm pretty sure Weasyl was never intended to be general art site. It was founded by furries, for furries, and was populated with furry art as far as I can remember. Yes, there IS some non-furry art, and I recall reading in an announcement one time that they said they are OK with general art as well in addition to furry art but I think that simply meant that you are allowed to upload any art you make, rather than insisting that it is a general art site.

Honestly, your claim totally surprises me, even though I loosely follow Weasyl for a few years now. (Only registered recently but st5ill kept an eye on it)

Don't get me wrong, I've no issue with general art - actually I started as general artist and I still intend to do general art, and I enjoy it too so I'm absolutely fine with general art appearing on Weasyl, but I believe it's core principle is, and always was, a furry community site.

No, I'm pretty sure being a general art site WAS a part of their mission statement from the beginning, which kind of got lost along the way due to how it was advertised early on and the origin of most early adopters.

Nothing on the website mentions furries in any specific way

Anyway I don't know if I follow anyone that does exclusively *not* furry/anthro art but ohnogangsters is pretty cool

Hmmm, I see. Strange because I've only ever heard of Weasyl as a furry site.

Actually, after checking the links above out of curiosity, this is the first time I see an artist on Weasyl that is not primarily doing anthro. I've seen some general pieces coming up here and there but usually the artist had more furry related works in their gallery than general.

Anyway, I guess this is off topic and I don't want to spam so let's leave this thread for what OP asked for and continue this over there:

I'm just gonna cautiously raise my hand, since I mostly do humans, koopas (I don't know if you consider those "furry"), and random general subjects.

Actually, why don't non-furry artists agree on a specific tag, like, well... "non-furry"? Then if they all tag their art with it, it becomes very easy to search for non-furry art.

well technically, the official recommendation is the other way around - tag all furry artwork with "Anthro" (because a descriptive tag makes more sense than a tag about what it isn't)
then you could just do a search of anything that doesn't have the anthro tag. But, I know that tag is very commonly overlooked.

Seconding Vae as a recommendation, here. Their work is pretty damn fantastic.
I can also recommend FancyOwls , as they draw a mix of anthro and human. c:
