By no means my first attempt, but I'm starting to draw again after being generally out of practise for six years. Would definitely appreciate help with how I could draw this smaller and incorporate more of the body.

General critique and sugestions would be nice too as I know I'm bound to have messed up in a variety of places. :>
    Meanwhile, in #CoE...

If you want to incorporate more of the figure into the picture, use small shapes to block out the composition- where the character is in the page and their general pose. It's a common problem of mine that I end up having my subject smeared up against the side of the page, which makes the whole thing lopsided. If you want to draw something smaller, start with small shapes essentially.

I've been working on anatomy and such, so some general tips would be great. I feel like I've really improved. :3 Anything you got for me, I'm all ears! The two done today were with no refs other than myself so if its off that might be why.

    Done today! :https://www.weasyl.com/view/162905

You have very so much improved. Have you just been practicing? Or is it just like some of us after a break you find you improved and everything sunk in?

My advice would be to do practice sheets on different body parts. Practice your hands and feet, torsos and arms. Take time and put practice into each of these then tie it all together after a few days of practice.

If not that just keep practicing, you have improved a lot in a month so whatever you are doing is working.

Another thing you can do to practice is drawing the same character for a while. You will find the things that you are weak in will start showing up because of the similar design. As long as you are working to correct mistakes then you will see more improvement. You can also join the weekly speed paint thread to try to expand and work on your composition.
You can still do it traditionally, all you have to do is shade or color the traditional sense. Which I honestly think is harder than computer painting, No undo button.

I went to FWA and got some art tutoring from this lovely guy who really helped me fix what I was doing wrong. I had the know how, I just couldn't apply it until he showed me what I needed to do. :3 I've been trying to draw something every day.

(I learned I need to practice digigrade legs MUCH more)

I know my hands suck badly. X3 I'll definitely try what you've said, I've actually been doing that with expressions recently.

I'll also do that as well. I need more pictures of my dragon. X3

So thats a big thing, practice. I know that it sometimes take a little help from someone to show you how to do it and thats so true.

Another piece of advice I will give you is build a reference library. There are different ways of setting it up on you computer but I personally have folders ALL over my computer so I can help with the organization. Mine are mainly from certain artists.

Find artists who styles you like and who draw what interests you. SAVE EVERYTHING, this is for presonal use and reference. Dont ever copy anything or something like that but when you get into a pinch on a drawing you can look through your reference and get ideas on how these artists did what you are trying to do. Sometimes you might find your favoriite artists in stream or on youtube. I find those to be the greatest things. Specially since a few times they have told me HOW they did a certain thing or learned to do something. Some of them dont watch chat that much or care to answer questions so its kinda a toss up.

Its good to have a reference library on your computer to see how things already finished, From anatomy to simply inspiring you, it will help greatly.

Good luck with the practice, I hope to see much more of your dragon around.

Thank you so very much for your advice. It really means a lot and I can't wait to apply it. <3

I'll definitely do the reference library. It sounds like a great idea! THANK YOU! *hugs*

If possible I'd like to get a bit of critique on this
    https://www.weasyl.com/submission/186977
I don't want to post the image for fear it would take up a lot of space.

My main problem that I recognize is perspective as anyone can probably see with the arm. I'm thinking of coloring it as well so it would look a lot better in it's context...and also to hide that smudge there :U
We all have our demons. If we're not fighting them, then we've befriended them.
