We have a trigger tag system as old as the internet itself. It's divided into 2 categories:

    *SPOILERS*

    *NSFW*

If, using your best judgement, your post contains neither of the above, you're good. Otherwise tag it as such. If you require tags beyond this to the point you start getting uppity about people not including them maybe you should start your own damn intertubes.

There is a point of where this stretches into personal accountability.
If someone's asking you to tag something is it really that hard to say "okay yeah sure :3"

Like are you really going to say "fuck you for having PTSD that's your issue not mine"

Are you really going to exclude this person because you can't be assed to tag your posts

I said that this is fine.

It's the people who throw a fit upfront and expect it to be done automatically without being informed that I take issue with.

And, even if they don't actually do it, it's not their obligation.
Just... don't follow them. Or un-follow them. Or whatever.
Block the blog. Block the posts.
There are ways to get around this. I've done it a number of times because I don't like porn all over my dash.

Wow. Firstly, I need to visit these forums way more often. Second, I never use tumblr so I didn't know trigger words was a thing there.

Now I would just like to say that it is one of the most ludicrous ideas I've ever heard, and I agree with everyone so far who has said that or something similar.

I can completely understand some sites wishing to impose heavy restrictions on what gets posted (like those hilarious fundie religious type sites) but places like tumblr that allow essentially free upload and expression should never be expected to kowtow to this kind of mollycoddling.

And apparently mollycoddling is a word, as my spell check is fine with it. I didn't even know that. That's my dose of awesome for today, share in it.

We'll find a reason, or else realize that we don't need one.

You seem to think that those of us who find trigger-warning every little goddamn thing, are just simply rude people who don't care about the mentally ill.
I don't mind trigger warnings, I think they are beneficial, what I care about is people who expect you to trigger warn literally every single thing that you can even think of: Breathing. Air. Sky. Lamp. Meat. Chicken. Soap. Carpet
These are the things Tumblr will call you a digusting, ableist, bigot for not trigger-warning. Then there's people like you that don't understand why this is ridiculous and also jump in on the finger-pointing. It's very immature.

I'm willing to put a bet that not every single person who wants a personal trigger warning has a form of mental illness or traumatic experience in their life. People who use "trigger" and "trigger warning" willy-nilly make those of us with mental disorders from traumatic experiences look like little pansies who can't bare to live day-to-day lives without being scared of the wind blowing.

    Seriously?

"**Consider this sentence a giant umbrella of a trigger warning for the rest of the post - if you are easily triggered, it is best not to read past this part for your own health, and just reblog for the sake of spreading information.

In order, everything wrong with Tumblr Pro as soon as it is clicked on:

--Very wrinkled, tired hands clasped together are shown next. Seemingly harmless at first, we must ask ourselves the question - what about amputees? Ableism doesn’t need to be rubbed in the face of the disabled."

    - Really, painfully obvious microaggression is heard in the voiceover at this part - it is said that ideas “can come from anywhere - our friends, our mothers, our children.” As previously stated - ableist, socialist, and completely insensitive to people who are unable to have children of their own, or have had traumatic childhoods…"

-Next we hear “ideas give birth to civilizations” - ableist and generally insensitive towards people who are unable to give birth.

    - Now, and throughout the video, we have many textbook examples of white privilege. None of the characters depicted in this video from 0:08 to 0:55, for example, are people of color. The man shown drawing in his studio at 0:36? This video would not at all have been affected by him being black. Was this intended to be “accurate” like Frozen, shoving more “successful and talented” able-bodied, cishetero white men down our throats, reestablished again when we are shown Albert Einstein in the next frame?

    - Giving us more triggers at 0:50 as if there aren’t enough on tumblr as it is, a chainsaw is shown cutting what appears to be papers or sketchbooks in half. Not only is this incredibly and obviously purposefully oppressive to many of the people who use this website, but it is also clearly trivializing illiteracy, an inability to draw, or other forms of disprivilege related to books or sketchbooks.

    - It may be hard to catch on the first listen, but the voiceover states that “a pro doesn’t see limits.” Reexamining this section more closely, we can hear a clear but subtle example of rape culture.

    - Very happy dogs play at 0:54, or are they? The dog in focus, shown in what is likely thought of as a “cute” outfit by most, is probably highly uncomfortable, and just plain embarrassed. Animals are not here for us to dress up to our standards and gawk at.

    - Even more is what is assumed to be a heterosexual couple embracing. Unless these people are trans* (which, if they are, then this point is moot but still valid), then this is a reinforcement of heteronormativity that is not necessary or welcome in a modern world where heteronormativity is outdated and oppressive.

    - Up close at 1:10 is footage of an eye. At first, seemingly harmless - but as many of you know, these types of images are very triggering to many bloggers (there are many eye-related trigger warnings), and so a close-up of an eyeball is just not appropriate.

"even if you arent triggered by videos randomly playing full screen the video itself could trigger people. phobias of motion, skin, nails, space, dogs, shaking, scopophobia, bare chests, heights, repetition, etc. could be triggered by the video
    please be safe"

These were trigger warning posts that tumblr users gave for Tumblr's april fool's joke.
