When you "wake up" it still feels like you're in a dream. It's not like you open your eyes, but instead reality just slowly fades in. After that I'm still paralysed. Paralysed with FEAR.

I should write books about my dreams or something, jesus its horrible
I'm really, really glad that I've only experienced it twice. If I had to deal with it on a regular basis then I think I would just try to give up sleep entirely.

I'll be honest, when I have one I'd shit myself if I wasn't rendered incapable of doing so. But after I'm awake and had it and stuff, it's kinda liiiike

Kinda like remembering something worrying happening IRL but you're able to look back on it and laugh and marvel at what an adventure you had, because said event wasn't actually harmful in the long run.

Huh. I've had stuff like that happen sometimes. Didn't know it was a thing. The face forest thing I posted about earlier had that effect on me, if i recall.

Well lucky you. I hate it when I wake up in the middle of the night and can't move or speak, but that's when I usually can remember the dreams I have, so it's like damned if you do, damned if you don't.

When I was a kid, like five or six, my grandma used to live right next door to this guy who was clinically insane. He wasn't legally allowed to own a gun, but according to my grandma, he still had several.

One night after finding this out, I had a dream that my mom and I went to visit my grandma and as we approached the front door, the burglar alarm goes off from inside. I'd never met the man, but in the dream I knew it was him when he burst through the door with a pistol in his hand. Almost looked a little like Jeff the Killer, for you Creepypasta fans. My mom screamed and ran away, and she just kinda left me there face to face with this psycho lol.

Another one I had, this was pretty recent, this is what installed a fear of sirens. Air raid sirens in particular. My dumb ass had downloaded an air raid siren ringtone and set it as my alarm for the next morning. Later that night I had a dream that I was in a park, like on the playground. The park sat on a huge hill that overlooked downtown, and I looked over and saw something falling from the sky over the city. Then came the mushroom cloud, and right before the gust of radiation hit me, my alarm goes off and I could still hear it in my dream. I still get tense and nervous whenever I hear sirens like that.

one time I had a dream I was lost in Detroit.

It was pretty scary, but I also had a comfy ass couch that was also a car for some reason. So it evened out, I think.

I experienced some really interesting things when I once tried to induce a lucid dream.

I had stayed up like 40 hours and then made an attempt to flow into a lucid dream.
After a while I started hearing all kind of loud buzzing sounds, and some incredibly awesome things I could only imagine to hear from some kickass synthesizer.
Eventually I started seeing flowy patterns.
Sometime in the middle of it I had the sleep paralysis kicked in too and that was a strange feeling. Suddenly I felt like it got really cold and a huge weight was dropped on my whole body. It was somewhat uncomfortable, but I did not associate it with negative.
I have managed to get the paralysis thing happen couple more times during same process... it takes so little to break out from it, at least for me. It also breaks the hallucinations so you need to start over.
Anyway after a while the hallucinations started turning into something coherent. There was one spot where I remember what happened, must have been where I actually dozed off, but the next thing I remember was I was actually dreaming ! And that I remembered what I was doing before, and I was in charge. Unfortunately I could not keep the dream going and it just faded out ofter couple minutes.
I haven't had much time or opportunities to go about it again, I really want to get this method nailed down and manage to have long dream sequences.
In that particular dream I started out in the front of my parents house. I felt I needed to eat and I went in to the fridge and made a sandwhich. One really cool aspect was that I had some kind of a supervision, I saw every smallest grain of sand and dirt. Currently my vision is pretty messed up without glasses mainly by astigmatism that makes my vision horizontally blurred.
I ate my sandwhich and then I started experiencing what I could describe as tunnel vision, and that basically marked the end of the dream. View closed in and I was disappointed when I woke up. But it was truly an unique experience and such an awesome one.

Most of my dreams tend to be pretty strange and creepy, in a lot of them I'm my monster dude and I go around killing and eating people, which doesn't freak me out and they're really vivid and in the first person.
There was only really one that freaked me out to the point of waking up and it was quite awhile ago.
I can't really remember all of it but it involved this disease thing that killed people and took over their bodies afterwards and kinda made them like zombieish, being just kinda there and dead but not wanting to eat people. At one point in the dream I was with my mom heading home and we were on this incredibly long bridge that went past this massive building where the thing was being made. Near the end of the dream, there was this guy in the kitchen that was apparently the guy who made it and I didn't trust him and I ended up biting him and getting the disease myself and at the very end of the dream, my dad and I were sitting on the couch and he was talking about how after I go I'm going to have my own planet.

Lil' dream I had back in October '13.

I was with my mom and we were running away from the cops because she had bought eight hangars full of pictures of medieval helmets but she didn't want to pay for them because they were the wrong size. And we were also running away from my grandma because she wanted to join PSY's band and wanted to show us how good she could dance Gangnam Style. Once PSY learned how dedicated she was, he took over the entire police force and my grandma and him got on giant flying wigs to chase after us so my mom had no choice but to transform her truck into a pope mobile that could climb walls. Eventually though, they did catch us so we were forced to watch my grandma dance Gangnam Style and PSY thought she was so good that he agreed to pay for my mom's pictures so everything was good in the end. Oh and the only thing that played in the radio was the theme of Inspector Gadget.
