This weekend I smoked spice for the first time (don't do that by the way) and I got way too high. My friend Paul and I were talking and he just said "hey, tell me something about you I don't know", so I just blurted that I was a furry XD

He legitimately didn't care, although I couldn't convince him that it wasn't just some weird fetish I had. I think that's the first time I've ever told anybody but my S.O. that I'm a furry, except for people i've met online through the fandom. Most of the time if you have a friend and they actually like you, they won't judge you for what you're into as long as you're not a prick about it. Still, I feel no reason to share that fact with folks unless they ask me first.
Yeah? well, y'know...that's just like, your opinion, man.

Yeeeaaah, it happens I guess, hehe. You'd have to get me pretty fucked up to admit to a friend that I'm a furry to be honest with you. Spice (aka K2) is a synthetic cannabanoid that can be often found in smoke shops. It's legal most places even though it's terrible for you, because it's a designer drug and every time it's banned, they just change it slightly so that it doesn't quite fall under the definition of the last law. The only reason I even smoked it was because I was already super stoned and nicky passed me a bowl of it without telling me what it was ><

I actually feel kind of relieved that at least one friend knows and is totally okay with it. Now I can gab about my partial suit and my newest commission with somebody x3

Most of my friends are indifferent. I have only had one bad outcome of people finding out I was a furry. It spurred a lot of social anxiety in me. I never even told them. I was just drawing my character, because at the time I never really thought much of it. They oversaw it and they intimidated me for a few months. I don't bring it up nowadays in public, but I'm not afraid to be a furry in online or private spaces, mostly because it's easier to use the "don't like? Don't look." concept. In other words, they have to willingly make the choice to look at my blog and if they don't like the content, there's the ignore feature and the back button. Of course that's problematic when I want to roleplay with non-furry people, but that's another story.

As for family... I don't think anyone really knows. I don't talk about it with my parents - mainly due to miscommunication between us. They do know that my character is an anthropomorphic fox. My step-father has made a few 'comments' when he sees art of my character - it wasn't sexual art in nature if that's what your thinking - so now I kinda minimize the page when they are around. I don't have the luxury of having my computer in my room. The rest of my family, I never bother telling because I don't see the reason. It has no real value to any conversation we would have. I should note that 90% of my family are over the age of 30, or under the age of 15. I don't see any reason to bring it up, as it has no relevance.

I am pretty open minded and what you see is what you get. I am not going all secretive about what I like, if any I scream it! I am pretty hyper and ppl will know pretty fast who I am or what I like ^_^ nothing to be ashamed of!

As for the furry fandom, I only just knew of it after my study, so I didn't had the oh tell my classmates situation. And even if that was the situation I would just go like Heyy guys look at this this is awesome! I usually have that effect on ppl that when I like something I get other ppl excited ^_^ lol

As for my friends, when I experienced my first furry convention I told them all about it! Like I do with all the hobbies and interest I have. Heck they even came along with us the next furry convention, one of them even got a fursuit from me It was fun. But sadly, I lost my best friend. It had nothing to do with the furrys btw, it was just something that our friendship was not the same anymore, and that was kinda sad so we just stopped seeing each other >____< I guess that happens when you get older and all that <_<

Now when it comes to family. It's not like I have to come out of a closet and tell them, my whole life I live very open and have no secrets. I am pretty straight forward with things. So this was no exception! When I started drawing furries and sewing furrsuits, all my family could say is that they like my work. And nothing negative about the fandom itself. They don't care rlly Its all good, and we all have our own interest ^_^ (its not rlly a lifestyle I took, but just another thing I like, a hobby) I just wish more ppl could experience the same. I understand that some have family members that can look weird at you, but srrsly how close minded are they? Its especially sad when parents are all weird about it. But I guess that's part of growing up, parents and children have many differences! The key is to let go and do what you like without hurting other ppl.

I can only give one advice, pleasseeee be honest about yourself and who you are. Do not pretend to be something else so ppl will like you. You are only lying to yourself and can never truly be happy with yourself or the things you enjoy. Of course you do not have to force others to like the same, but don't be all secretly over it either. Most of them prob don't care about it anyway and you guys just go on with your life and friendship (or not, I mean who want to be friends with someone who can't accept who you are anyway, to each there own right!) ^_^ OR maybe your friends will totally like it too and you will make a great discovery and can have twice the fun! I am not the only one who experienced this btw!

If I said something weird or hurtful, just slap me in the face! I have a big mouth, but just trying to help idk :3

    Wow

Dude my friends ignore the hell out of my fur-ness. It's been steadily increasing, like I have shirts with anthros on them and art on my walls now and they just stolidly avoid the topic. I think they're scared they might like it

One of my best friends from high school went on this anti-porn rant, how it's horrible and kills relationships, and my best friend from college just laughed at the whole spectacle and asked me, "She doesn't know what you draw for money, does she?" So at least one of my friends not only knows I draw sexy fox people, but, like, sexy fox people, and finds it more acceptable than the hobby of... judging other people's hobbies.

One of my other friends has since said, "I own every album ICP has ever released. I can't judge other people's interests."

It's still a lot of indifference on the whole. I run with a lot of burlesque, burner, and/or hippie types who really don't give a shit what you do in your free time as long as you're not a dick about it or a dick about what they do in their spare time. It's nice.
Formerly gorgonops. I do art-type stuff.

I honestly haven't told any of my friends. I'm sure they wouldn't mind, but part of me would rather not try it, just in case. I'm paranoid enough everyone secretly hates me, I don't need to give my brain more ammo.

In all seriousness, it never has came up. Many have seen me draw anthro stuff, and they just go back to doing stuff because they aren't interested in my art unless it is for them.
