You couldn't update Procreate because of the JaJa?

Oh durr. :3 If it makes you feel any better, the new features are nice, but I don't use them very much. Mostly things like gaussian blur and whatnot. You're not missing out on too much tbh.

I use Manga Studio 5 for most of my illustrations. It's a great painting/inking program and snappier than Photoshop on the ol' laptop. There's only a few things it doesn't do that I've needed Photoshop to fall back on.

This isn't a painting program per say, but related to much needed art tools

    http://code.google.com/p/sagethumbs/

Sage thumbs lets you see your PSD thumbnails in your explorer folders again in Windows 7

How is Manga Studio not on the list?

    Edit:

Ahah, didn't see that! Maybe I should start checking recent posts first..

But yeah, I've never worked with color in MS. I think the last time I tried was on MS4. Is it better/easier on the newer version? And out of curiosity, do you have any videos of people using it to color? o.o

I have MS 5 but I haven't tried 4. As far as I can tell, working with color is great with this program! I read some reviews comparing it to MS4 and they were all saying that it's a huge improvement, and the ability to work with color is hugely improved. I love working with it, it's definitely worth adding to the list

The interface is much better in Manga Studio 5. I think the tools could use more tweaking for coloring. There is something a bit off with them.

Then again I can make some pretty weird brushes in Painter and Sai.

I don't have the time now to take a look at all the forums and first page posts, but this one might be one of my favourites already! Thanks so much for sharing all these programmes! My personal recommendations are Sai, Paint Shop Pro and the GIMP. Especially the last one, since it is a GNU software that it's already for free and can be modified if you have some knowledge. Also it is very competent with filters, effects and doing fancy typographies.
