Charcoal is a very interesting medium I have been trying to get better at.

Pretty good start, and I hope you will post more of your studies.

QT: Until last semester's art class, I'd barely touched charcoal at all. I hated how messy it was, and I had a hard time working with it. XD I finally just gave up and gave in to the mess, and now I really enjoy it for class stuff. Not so much at home still, since cleaning up curious cats is more effort than I'm interested in! Thank you; I hope to keep posting them too. With luck we'll have some consistent models for a while.

Willow: Thanks, so do I. Since we didn't have a model for that portion of the class we drew the skeleton (I think they've named him Oscar) on brown paper; using the brown as the midrange tone was pretty fun. I wish I'd had time to finish, but it is what it is.

I don't know if you've seen Henry Yan (The front page has a NSFW image just to warn) but I really marvel at how he handles charcoal.

I have his book and I love it. So inspiring. I love how he keeps it simple with the shadows, it makes for striking figure work.

Wonderful! I love doing gestures (more so on animals than people) when I can, they're great to stay on-top of! I recommend you to check out Vilppu's drawing manual. Even for more experienced people, they could learn tons from him; the genius that he is.

Aside from that, you're really good with charcoal. I find it to be very tricky and have avoided it for so very long. Ah~! And what an' adorable elf!
