I'd always been a writer, though the stuff I wrote waaay back when I was eight writing about a Balto OC of all things, really can't be constituted as "writing". Still, that OC soon became Windthor. Even had the same name, but don't ask me what his name means. I think it just sounded cool to me at the time.

I got into the fandom after playing my buddy's copy Star Fox Adventures when I was roughly 12 years old. (Damn, ten years ago? I didn't even realize it'd been that long.) I did a Google search on the game, wanting to get a copy of it myself, found fan-made images, found stuff on Deviant Art, and it snowballed into finding FurAffinity. Kind of simple, for the most part, but still. x3

All the while, Windthor got revisions and rewrites, and I feel like my writing has improved, possibly being the only thing I feel like I'm actually any good at, and I do hope to get published someday, at least once I actually get off my ass and write something worthy of being published.

But yeah, that's how I got into the fandom. x3

For me, it was a slightly longer journey. I'd had an interest in anthropomorphic animal characters at least as far back as Tiny Toons and Sonic the Hedgehog (massive, MASSIVE crush on Princess Sally, not even gonna lie), but I wasn't really aware of "furries" as a distinct concept apart from cartoon characters until I found Yerf while wandering around an unrelated Google search. And that, as they say, was that! I was hooked instantaneously.

It's interesting to see how many things people list as influences that didn't even exist yet when I was growing up.

Back when I was discovering Usenet, I looked through a list of FAQs from various newsgroups and came across several that were about topics I'd never heard of and found interesting. One of them was from alt.fan.furry. I didn't really pursue it, but a couple of years later I got hooked on Lion King and became active in that fandom, which is where I started writing stories. That interest ran its course in about 3 years (much longer than it would have if it hadn't been for discovering the online community and becoming friends with other fans), and didn't so much end as morphed into a general interest in furry fandom. In those days I ate up a lot of published and online literature. I still have most of those books.

to be honest, i was always a yifflord. i remember drawing my family members as furries back when i was about five years old and hell, i even thought i was a dog for the longest time. my parents used to yell at me for crawling around and barking. (stares deep into your eyes) (this doesn't leave the thread)

but i guess i got formally introduced on neopets when people still called it anthro.
dont even test me i swear to god im going to eat everything in this fucking state

I guess I always felt like a dog trapped in a human's body.

I didn't have any idea what furries were until I got to college. I had always liked dressing up in costumes, and started creating costumes that I could snowboard, and skateboard, and won a few costume contests. I discovered the porn, but I wasn't super into it, and I didn't spend all that much time online. I remained pretty closeted about my interest for a while and and eventually accepted it after I had been out of college, and single for the first time in a several years, and went ahead and created a pounced add and an FA and all that. I bought a cheap wolf suit, and got some rad shots of me snowboarding in it at Whistler. I partied in that thing every chance I could get, and eventually had to throw it out after riding my bike around in the rain with it all night for a bicycle scavenger hunt, among other things :3

I still don't know that many furs because there aren't any where I live, but a lot of my close friends know about my furryness now and nobody cares. It's just one more thing that makes me a complicated, interesting person to them.

I'd love to get to know more people. I'm not that far from Portland and occasionally venture to Seattle and I know a few people in each of those cities but I wish I wasn't so far away from all of them. The thing is that I love where I live and already have a great network of friends out here, they just don't share much of this interest. I dated, and lived with a therian girl, a fox for about 11 months. She was crazy, but I don't regret her at all it was a pretty fun time in my life and she really encouraged my furryness, but tended to be jealous when I wanted to go meet other people. I had to get away from her and it lead to a rough patch in my life, that I haven't gotten too many breaks from lately. I keep carrying on, and just when I feel like I'm getting back on my feet again and things are really starting to look up, something bad happens again. I know it can't continue like this forever though. Starting this year off with a shattered face was pretty rough, but I think 2014 can only get better from here. Hell I don't know if I would have ever fleshed out my character and gotten back into art if I hadn't been forced to lay low like this.

It was the dark side first. I viewed it like watching a train wreck. It was my curiosity that led me to videos of fursuiting in public and conventions. I've watched hundreds of videos. Good and lame. Kijani Lion, Wild Bill Tex and the like. it was these videos that got me into the fandom. For me it's the insane lever of creativity that's drawn me into the fandom. Meeting others with the same desire to create has been one of the best experiences of my life.

I've had an anthro fantasy world for well over 20 years now. My fursona is part of that world. I don't consider myself an animal. Cause is a creation by me. A part of me but not the whole. I'm looking forward to bringing Cause to life. Cosplaying with others of the fandom.

I drew furries ever since I was a little kid, I sorta consider that my introduction because once I learned about the fandom It seemed like I belonged in it all my life. XD

I mean, the suiting was new to me but I find it adorable now.

I've been drawing dragons since I was 5 or so, once I got into high school I found out it was a thing to draw people as animals, then later in college I met a pair of Furries and they brought me to FWA (Furry Weekend Atlanta) and I had the greatest time! I meant tons of great folks and learned a lot from my fellow artists. I've stayed ever since. Most everybody is nice, friendly, and I've learned a lot.

I got into the fandom around the year 2007 when I became a big fan of the monsters known as Digimon. I was mostly a huge fan over the characters Veemon and Flamedramon and would remember visiting a lot of the digimon fan sites (Mostly the Mature).
