I think it was after I saw comments of people talking about furries on Renard videos back in 2009. So, I googled it and immediately saw porn. After that I just kinda decided to meet some other furries and I always thought it was kinda cool, but I never really became one until the beginning of this year.

I watched Furry Fandom being created inside Science Fiction Fandom back in the 1980s.
Over the 4th of July weekend at the 1985 Westercon in Sacramento California I first met Steve Gallacci selling furry art and Albedo comic books. Mark Merlino and Rod O'reilly threw a Prancing Skiltaire party there (the first furry party). I was also getting into (American) Anime Fandom at that time and since many of the people organizing both groups were the same there was naturally a lot of crossover.
Before that I grew up watching lots of cartoons including things like Kimba The White Lion and Amazing 3. I was also drawing comics starring superhero cats back when I was about 5.

When I was little I loved all the talking animal characters that Disney movies brought, so that was definitely a major part of it. Then I started reading Better Days by Jay Naylor, and the Warrior Cats series, which led to me creating my own cats, where I made my very first fursona. Then I saw some pictures and videos of people going out and fursuit, and I thought that they were totally amazing. I first identified as "furry" when I was about 11/12 I think, and since then I've always wanted to be more involved in the fandom, and to have my own suit.

My buddy got me into it about four or five years ago. My opinion about the fandom in general has fluctuated pretty crazy-like, especially lately.

A friend of mine was into it when he and I met many years ago, but back then I didn't know what it was and I didn't fully understand his explanation at the time. It wasn't until recently that I came to understand what it meant and that I was connected to the fandom the whole time. I met a new friend on another site, which prompted me to an in-depth online exploration of the fandom, which further led to this website and FA/FAF and the initial creation of this fursona. The rest, you might say, is the evolution of history.

I dont really know.. probably something about being a misanthropic second grader, looking at dragons, some books, and a friend were probably what set it off, though I didnt identify (or know, I suppose) until around 2001-2002 or so, a bit before i got particularly active on the internet beyond lurking. Stuck to game sites though for the longest time, and didnt really get active in the furry world until ~2009. But you'll notice if you look at my age, I knew of the fandom (Even if i didnt participate in it at the time)& started identifying quite yonug.

I think my first experience with a "furry" character if you will was when I was very young and into digimon, my friends and I would play during recess and pretend to be digimon, my favourite was metal seadramon. I officially heard of furries when I played diablo 2 and I didn't really become my furry self that I am now until I played Habbo Hotel and role played as a cat/vampire character and eventually a skunk character.

Batman Beyond, and The Island of Dr. Moreau (1996). I witnessed both as a young, little thing, at around the same time I started watching DBZ and whatever anime I could watch. Toonami was kick-ass, and sparked my interest in both Japanese animation, and later Western animation. At some point, I discovered Nu Pogodi (I used realplayer until the age of 14, and some Russian in typical Russian fashion streamed the entirety of it in a continuous loop with poor subtitles). I liked the style of the characters, and later discovered anthros around the age of 12. Soon followed the naughty drawings, including my growing, early fascination with sadism, bondage, and discipline. As it turns out, there are many furry bondage artists, and thus my interest in anthropomorphic characters was cemented with fetishism. I continued to develop an interest in Totalitarianism, and the concept of the benevolent dictator, and the vanguard revolutionary, and I found both to be very influential in shaping my identity as a dominant that attempts to provide a stable setting for a totally devoted subordinate submissive.

So, I ended up joining FAF. Later, I got some mental issues, which does not benefit any attempt to try to establish and maintain some form of a stable relationship, but I have gone for 3 years with my current relationship with someone who used to be part of the fandom until they quit from the drama and damaged psyches of most members of the furry community.

And it all started with the Splicers episode of Batman Beyond. :I

But I have given y'all too much information.
