Ooh! and more on the platypus! The Russian word for platypus is "удканос" (pronounced approximately "ood-kah-nos", or for y'all who know the IPA, [ʉd̪kɑnɔs]; also, sorry if I spelled it wrong, I'm not very good with Cyrillic and transcribing Russian)

One more thing on the platypus: the word originally comes from Greek, not Latin, so it was originally πλατυπους (platypous). because of this, the "original" pluralization would not have been "platypi," but instead "platypodes."

Okay. I'm done one the subject of the platypus <:

The word 'girl' originally referred to children of both sexes.

OT: Children in northeast Africa make bracelets and necklaces from beads, but use strips of popped tires instead of string. This is because tires are a common waste in the bush, as there are few paved roads.
I even had one from a pen pal in middle school. I don't know where it is now, it's been way too long.

To continue this, we were all originally girls, but at one point the fetus decides whether it wants to remain a girl or grow the extra bits to become a bouncing baby boy.
