Oop. I deleted it and put in an updated version.
Here's the current version. I'll try to leave this altho i'll post updated versions. I'll try to update this post or any subsequent or whatever.
beware: very nsfw.
I was originally gonna go to a drama-but-with-the-sex (cuz like there's tv and movie and book drama where they cut out the sex parts even if it totally happens) but it's ended up more porn with a plot. Which is kind of thinly developed so far but I'll keep working on it. Aha. Enjoy? :'P
If anyone has any advice left as to how to either get better or have fun or be motivated to do art i would really appreciate it because right now I feel very seriously like giving up altogether. I'm stuck drawing things that always turn out shitty, studies frustrate me and I don't do well with them, and to respond to Hewge's earlier comment, I'm not having fun with it at all. I feel like I'm at a dead end and I have no idea how to get past this point. It's just too upsetting to even try at this point. I'm going back to draw stuff less and less. Seeing other people's art makes me feel even worse and just... I'm really tired of all of it at this point.
Any sensitively phrased suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Or i guess just suggestions at all.
If i disappear this is why.
Sorry for the whiny rant.
I've been trying to think how best to approach this sensitively, so hopefully I don't sound like an' arrogant annoyance or preacher in anyway but I'll just give you a bit of my view, if that's ok?
Personally, I've always noticed people put the most bothersome thing on their mind at the end of an 'emotional' list. Not sure if that rings true here or not but regardless, this makes me believe a huge part of your drive is based around others and constantly comparing your art with their own unique work. I could say not to do this, but we tend to subconsciously think it from time to time. Instead of roasting in negative thoughts, see if you could switch it around to your advantage and use the artists work as a hurdle to help motivate you. Not even physically, but mentally! Think how much effort they put into their piece whether it be a sketch of full painting, how much they've practiced to get to the skill level they're now at and are still trudging up the same snowhill you are. We're all at different levels in our art. Some are better with their sketchwork, others excel with using colours, heck even with all those fancy words like composition and stuff - the list goes on! It's what makes your art special in its own way that having both strengths and weaknesses should be welcomed.
I understand being frustrated though, that when you've been in the oven sizzling too long you just need time to cool off! Breaks are needed, but quitting (while that is a choice - refer to Hewge's post xD) would mean all your invested time and energy is at a standstill. Not necessarily a waste, but what now? Honestly Bliss, I'd hate to see someone who was so eager to improve drop it all and not look back. You really were getting better, but your eyes were set too far ahead for a goal that should have been a step, not a leap.
This probably is all knowledge you may have already known, but sometimes we just need a reminder and to know someone is watching.![]()

We've all been there, anxious, depressed, defeated. Comparing yourself to other artists to the point of defeat and giving up is the wrong attitude and a dangerous trap to fall into (I've been there). It should give you motivation if anything. When I started art seriously, I realized it's more about the mental battle than it is the technical aspects, pretty much like any craft you work at.
Rather than give you a long talk, I have some personal art blogs I've made over the year from my experiences along with a few helpful videos that kept me going.

BTW, you have 43 pages on this forum and more than anyone's sketchbook if I recall. If that doesn't tell you there is a fire in you, I'm not sure what will. Regardless of what you see, I see improvement. I've seen FAR worse from artists that still continue to charge on, so keep going!Moogle said it well when mentioning that you're at a place where your wishes and ambition are beyond what your hand and eye are able to draw. This stage in drawing is frustrating, but it's a wall everyone must punch through. It will get more enjoyable once you punch through, but otherwise, relish the process and KNOW it'll happen if you keep going (it will happen). Drawing something you think is "bad" isn't failure. Quitting is failure.

WELP.
Honestly I've avoided this forum since my li'l breakdown. I took a sort of break from art, partially cuz I went on vacation where I did not have access to this and didn't really feel like taking a sketchbook so.
I've cooled off a little bit and I'm not sure how I feel about my art right now but I no longer believe I am a trash artist which is good.
Uh. Anyway.
Wow. Uhm. To be perfectly honest this was probably the most encouraging and helpful thing I've received.
Normally I do use other people as motivation to get where I'm going, I guess it's just kind of... two aspects of viewing others' art? Either a push forward or a roadblock? Uhhh ignore that rambling I guess. But yes. I do know how to use others' art as motivation, I think I was just at a state where it was really hard to see it as that.
And I think at heart I never was going to quit, I was just too upset.
Ahh thank you ; O ; I'll definitely check those things out.
SO YEAH. Thank y'all for your help or attempt at help :'P
I've been drawing again and I'll post some of the stuff I have tomorrow cuz it's late and I'm lazythank y'all again <3
(and very special life event -- I start college on tuesday C: huehuehue)
