    Didn't notice this before. Just for your information, in OpenOffice you can turn off "smart quotes" by going to Tools, Autocorrect Options, then the Localized Options tab and de-selecting 'Replace' for the quotation marks and apostrophes. It's helpful to just turn off all autocorrect options, honestly, for uploading anything as .txt.

    Thanks for the advice, I didn't know there was such an option in OpenOffice! I'll explore that and see what happens on my next literary upload. =)

    as of the last round of updates, smart quotes won't get automatically stripped (and thus it's okay to leave them in) and uploading text submissions shouldn't randomly fail (unless your submission isn't encoded with utf-8, but you'll get a specific error for that).
