Do you ever worry about creeping out people with what you draw?

I was just a little curious.

I started out drawing normal art and having a clean gallery. Over time I started drawing more adult and nude work, and now I do a lot of porn. I think I still carry a number of watchers that appreciate my clean work, but sometimes I wonder if I am alienating others with the switch.

A friend of mine said I really can't control how others may feel or cater to them because some are just too demanding. But I also care about who watches me, and that they don't feel uncomfortable or hurt by what I draw. I think so far that hasn't happened but it was something on my mind.

Has anyone else ever dealt with this thought? I know I'm in a fandom that's rather permissive towards adult work but I know it's still a taboo to make it regardless.

I figure that if anyone is creeped out by porn, they will have their filters set to see G rated art only anyway... so it doesn't bother me. I don't draw really weird fetishes anyway.

yeah, i guess i'm concerned with creeping people out with some of the fetishes i draw, but at the same time, i keep completely separate accounts for my normal work and my fetish art. that way those who're into said fetish can just see what they want, and it doesn't stain my primary "normal" account with weird fetish artwork

Over what I draw? No. I mean usually my porn gets less views/general attention than my normal stuff, because my style doesn't really fit smut too well I assume.

I just get people being creeps over who I am, which isn't something I can change so I usually don't worry about it.

If i draw something freaky/very kinky/porny or whatever, i'm probably aiming to creep people out. :U

That makes sense then if someone has a SFW account for the non-porn stuff. However I think with enough tagging, filtering and rating this could help artists separate out their work.

I'm almost tempted to use a tag like weird_fetish or just plain weird if it's something that could separate it from "normal" stuff.

Yes, I am very aware of the feeling these days. I suspect this has intensified because of how cutesy/childrens book oriented most of my work has become throughout all of my sites- it certainly didn't help that a thirteen-year-old fan reacted rather harshly once when they found some of my nude studio drawings! I've been trying to remedy this by keeping my main galleries clean while my Tumblr is a bit more free-for-all. Still, a lot of my scribbles remain private these days.

Ha! Story of my life. Or it used to be.

Up until like 3 years ago, I never posted my smut online-- then I started doing it because I was like "HEY. THEY'RE GONNA RUN EVENTUALLY, MIGHT AS WELL MAKE THEM RUN STRAIGHT FROM THE GET-GO!".
So now I just post whatever I want since I'm not popular-- so 1. no one cares what I post anyway, 2. If I ever become popular it won't be a sudden SHOCK to anyone when I do draw crazy nonsense every once in a while. xD

I have some really bizarre, but harmless fetishes I'd love to draw/showcase,but I worry about scaring off the people who appreciate my normal clean work. :/

You could always have an alternate account specifically for posting anything that isn't clean. That's something a lot of people do.
