View Full Version : Forum Suggestion : Hide forums from New Posts list

I love to browse forums by New Posts, but it's tiresome to wade through a lot of forum posts I don't care to see. A lot of forums have this feature, I'd imagine it'd be easy to implement but I might be wrong.

I'd like to have the ability to hide threads from the "New Posts" as well. Right now I just work around it by checking what I want to check, then clicking "Forum Actions > Mark Forums Read" to get rid of the rest.

I've been using my script that hid posts from Welcome Center for a while now. =)

document.addEventListener('DOMContentLoaded', pageEnhancements, false);

function filterSearch()
var desc = document.querySelector("#pagetitle .description");
if (desc.textContent.indexOf("Type: Posts; New Posts") != -1)
var hidden = 0;
var items = document.querySelectorAll(".threadbit");
for (var i = 0; i < items.length; i++)
var postedin = items[i].querySelector(".threadpostedin a");
if (postedin && (postedin.title == "Welcome Center"))
items[i].style.display = "none";
if (hidden > 0)
desc.textContent += "(" + hidden + " hidden from Welcome Center)";

function pageEnhancements()
if (document.location.pathname.indexOf('/vbulletin/search.php') != -1)

You can essentially already do this with the forum's advanced search tool (https://forums.weasyl.com/vbulletin/search.php?search_type=1).

To utilize it how you want you'll want to do the following:

Search In
Search Type: [Posts]

Search for Posts
Leave default/blank for all these options

Additional Options
Search in Forum(s): CTRL+Click to select the ones you want to view.

Search by Prefix: [(any thread)]

Find Threads with: <leave blank>

Find Posts: [Your Last Visit] [and Newer]

Sort Results by: [Last Posting Date] [in Descending Order]

Show Results as: [Threads]

Then you could bookmark the search and use it every time you want to browse it.
