Am I just blind or isnīt there any way to sort the results of an search?
If yes, where is it and why i cant see it?
If no, is this not an important feature and may need to be added?

Thank in advance

Agreed. I can't see a way to get a view of what things are new that I might like. If I search on a generic term, there's no way to sort by date of submission.

Search results are automatically returned in order of descending timestamp. How else would you like to be able to sort them?

Hello, I was looking around the site, and noticed that the
search function can be very lacking. It seems to only search
the specific keyword that one would type into the search bar.
Does it only Search through Keywords. If so, I think that that
may be a bit inefficient for a search engine.

I noticed that the search engine ignores searching for usernames.
I realized this when I typed in my username into the search,
and it only came up with ONLY works I put the keyword "Uluri" on.
It does not come up with ALL works made by me like I expected...

Is there also a way to expand the search into the description as well?
Such as if a user write My username (Uluri) in the description of a submission
it will also show up in the search?

Either way, as the Search function is now, it makes it more difficult to
find new artists based on Keywords alone.

Also, for works being search for an order (Besides newest to oldest).
Ordered art I would like to see:
- Recently popular (Sometimes, newest of isn't always what I want to look at.)

[I](I hope this would be the right thread to respond to for this)

You can search for usernames by prefacing it with "user:"
for example, to show results made by me you can use "user:noxid" as one of your keywords.

It currently doesn't index the descriptions as far as I know, I'm guessing because it's a lot more difficult to search on and you're more likely to get unrelated results. But I'm not a dev. So, if you want to be discoverable then make sure you use good tags :v

there are some other search qualifiers as well, I have a browser extension (https://forums.weasyl.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?6690-Weasyl-Enhancer-extension) that adds a menu that can complete them for you, or you can look here (https://www.weasyl.com/help/searching) to read the help page.

THank you Noxid, but my point is that one has to go in such a round about
and specific way to search for what they are looking for. I'm concerned not just
for my own exposure, but for other artsits' exposure as well.

It's not very OBVIOUS that you have to search User:[username] in order to find ALL
the work that an artist has make, causing it to be much more difficult to find artists.
One should not have to add extensions to do a task such as search for something on an art site, in my opinion.
It means that the search function is inadequate.

I would also like the [searching username] function to include descriptions as well
so that if SOmeone were to mention said user in the description to credit a character
for artwork, then I could find that artwork as well by some artist.

But still, thank you for teaching me something I didn't know.
This might maybe... help me to find people I'm searching for... a bit I think.

Yeah, I understand what you're getting at. The site is still, ultimately a work in progress though and they may change some of the search mechanics eventually. For now, this is the best I can do to give some convenience things that the devs might not have time to work on right away. But suggestions for real improvement are good too, because it's a pretty important thing to be able to search effectively.
