One of the forums I used to frequent had a little window on the side where you could live chat with people browsing the site, and I'm pretty sure all you had to do was log in to use it. It was a POS, but it was a really neat way to get to know some of the regulars, and I'm pretty sure it reduced overall shitposting just because it was so easy to go and blow some steam off in. I dunno how interested everybody would be in that, but I'd love it.

I'm all for this as well! :3 Although I'm pretty sure this was brought up in the past and quickly denied, can't remember where however. ;x

I was actually asking recently something related, of they plan to implement a web client for the Weasyl IRC chat, and the answer was that they don't plan to. So I wouldn't have high hopes for this shoutbox either.

We don't have any plans for a shoutbox on the forums. Some similar suggestions in the past can be found in following threads:

However, we do have our own irc network. There's web clients such as Mibbit you can use to connect to it.

More information on our irc can be found here:

This isn't to say it isn't a possibility (it could happen someday in the future!), it's just that we aren't currently planning on offering that sort of thing.
