View Full Version : Certain links to full-size images produce 404 errors.

I'm not sure exactly how to track an error like this. I've checked my connection and used multiple browsers (firefox, chrome), producing the same effect.

Basically, as things stand, when clicking on an image on a submission page to browse through to the full-sized image, the link occasionally goes nowhere, 404ing out. (Literally - it produces a 404 Not Found error from nginx) This has been happening for a fairly large number of the images I have tried this with today, but it appears to be far more prevalent with older images?

Here are several examples:

https://www.weasyl.com/submission/259074/foreign-affairs (nws)
which links to
https://www.weasyl.com/~iko/submissions/259074/4f387e7c62c0718700410318cd1e367d4a52844660c883c7cd 77fd6615b503b4/iko-foreign-affairs.png (nws)
which is 404ing

similarly with https://www.weasyl.com/submission/258152/comm-mara-masai
and its link to
https://www.weasyl.com/~purplepardus/submissions/258152/d8653e4b80da2f8dfd49597b094abdb805bd9053eadb5517ef b1c45343ce614d/purplepardus-comm-mara-masai.png

and https://www.weasyl.com/submission/78694/winter-icons

and https://www.weasyl.com/submission/182380/longing (nws)

It's confusing, to say the least.

02:20:43 < AuroraBorealis> are the images just gone?
02:20:46 <@weykent> no
02:21:10 <@weykent> i need to write a repair tool is all
02:21:23 < AuroraBorealis> i see
02:21:36 <@weykent> the images are still recoverable, but somehow aren't in the right place
02:22:21 < AuroraBorealis> is the sha1 or whatever it is wrong?
02:22:22 < AuroraBorealis> in the url
02:22:44 <@weykent> no, the sha256 is right
02:22:56 <@weykent> basically there's two hierarchies: /static/media and /static/submission
02:23:20 <@weykent> almost all of the items in the latter directory got merged into the former directory, but apparently some did not make it
02:23:32 <@weykent> the latter directory still exists, but isn't used on the mainsite anymore
02:23:37 < AuroraBorealis> ah
02:23:48 <@weykent> so, i just need to copy the image files from one into the other

it's known; I just haven't had time to fix it.
