okay first off, some characters of mine in not their /true form/, but their most basic form that works best when you don't want to get too into the details or finicky stuff (long, long rambly explanation). no, these aren't their real names either, but they work fine. they have many forms and many names, but they're basically the same characters.

green the human

cyan the raptor ghost thing

orange the raven

purple the human

silver the cat

i like to keep it simple.

Crits are always welcome!

Nice cartoon sketches. It is good to see you start one of these and I hope to see more from you.

aww I love the Dinosaur ghost guy :D

Totally second this. XD

(mildly nsfw) http://imgur.com/74vb2R7.jpg

took a stab at this. i'll need loads of practice and sometime i want to try again.

02-18-2014, 11:02 PM
some "warmups" (really I'm just going to take a big nap instead of do more drawings) but here's some doodz I made after a little tiny rp session:

later (always later...) i'll be stepping out of my comfort zone, making absolutely horrid abominations on paper, but it's a necessary evil. i'd love to make rough but clear and effective storyboard type drawings of roleplays, but that's going to take ages to get halfway decent not horrendous at. well, wish me luck!

02-19-2014, 07:24 PM
Cool and very fun work here, and nice use of color.

02-19-2014, 07:37 PM
I love your cartoon dinosaurs!!! xD

Anyways thats a lot of work but can provide great practice good luck!

02-21-2014, 02:19 PM
I love the colors and textures of (what I'm assuming is) the natural media. Markers?

i'd love to make rough but clear and effective storyboard type drawings of roleplays

I'm not really good at giving constructive criticism, but I'll try: Stylistically, I think you're partially there. I love how fast and loose and expressive all your work is so far. Maybe you could practice on just the underlying pencil sketches to limit the amount of unnecessary strokes. Less underlying strokes will give your pieces more confidence without making them look too polished, since your inking alone already has that lovely, rough quality that gives your art so much character.

^ aw thanks! I use alcohol markers and water based sketch pens, or if i use pencils i ink with a pilot 78g m and noodlers black ink. pretty much all of my sketch pens and markers are modified. the sketch pens generally have fountain pen ink in them and for the markers i do stuff that takes ages to describe that involved cutting the ends off sharpies and flushng them out and keeping the dye, points, and caps - or drawing out excess dye into pure alcohol, and refilling the sharpies with pure alcohol or extracted and altered dye. i love to tinker.

i really really wish i could do smooth inking like i could years ago (over lousy construction ahaha) but alas, lately my hands have been shaky for some reason.

but im glad you like te effect! (but the shaky hands drive me nuts)

tinkering with things related to another hobby is a great hobby itself. I cannot draw at all with markers... I admire your ability to mix them without the color looking like well...mine aka mud.

02-22-2014, 04:10 PM

Tinkered with some inking pens (porous point), and sometime later I should redo the refs for my other characters.

got more things to attempt today. if they don't suck too bad, maybe i'll show you them.

02-23-2014, 12:15 AM

sketched with prismacolor 144/sharpie sky blue
more attempts at concept/storyboard/something

02-24-2014, 12:31 AM
almost all of these are life drawings. feel free to crit.

02-25-2014, 04:22 PM
warm up for this morning. haven't drawn a lion in a while.

from yesterday. more serious but frustrating. gotta keep pressing on...

02-25-2014, 07:13 PM
Whoa so many new posts. You seem like a really creative dude. keep it up man. do you ever do like charactures and such?

02-25-2014, 08:25 PM
^ why yes I do like to work on those! I get a little closer every time I try. I should post some drawings I've made of infamous internet people sometime, haha. And not name who they are, see if anyone just knows who they are if the caricatures are close enough :P but I have some problems with sameface syndrome.

02-25-2014, 08:34 PM
same face syndrome is a common problem xD

02-26-2014, 05:34 PM
i began this morning working on a new letter (with old letters backed up), and drawing a few sketches of a silly person on youtube (he's very mysterious so you'll probably never find out who he is :ninja:)

gotta bang out lots of drawings today

02-27-2014, 09:20 PM

02-27-2014, 10:57 PM
Wowzers! Your scenery is just amazing, lovin' the vibes that fly out from your work! Nice use of space on the page too.

I love dat monitor. :D

03-05-2014, 08:28 AM

things that will never tell you you're not good enough

1: lined paper
2: cartoon lions

edit: oh, and also:

do you realize how many years i tried to even attempt to draw this...scene thing??

03-05-2014, 01:09 PM

do you realize how many years i tried to even attempt to draw this...scene thing??

The Lion King is never wrong!

Dude was it one of those things you had on your mind and then never did? I have so many of those its sad... I also have about a 100 half drawings of things I want to finish lol

It's good practice though, I don't do well drawing the inside's of houses

03-06-2014, 09:02 PM
LOINS. You make me want to draw loins.
That room-with-a-staircase sketch looks mighty interesting... there's a really high ceiling in that room! Hey, I don't know if you have a tablet or not (as in a drawing tablet), but if you want some practice with perspective (though I don't recommend tracing it like a lot of webcomic artists I've run into- looses its character, just use it as a guideline) Google Sketchup is good for making little scenes from different angles! Gives you the ability to see buildings etc in 3D and move around them.

03-11-2014, 06:44 AM
I should put something in here. my attention's been all over the place.

I did two pieces for someone else (not on here)

but i think trades will be closed for me right now.

03-13-2014, 08:54 AM
eh, not much new to toss in here. here's something from before that picture with the cave and marowak guy

just figuring this character out

03-19-2014, 01:31 PM
Man I really like your coloured images they look so bright, very eye catching. Lol, is the monster eating birthday cake that belonged to the caveman? xD
Nice expressions on the last post, I like it!

05-04-2014, 12:54 AM
^hmm, possibly!! he is an eeevil monster, after all.

so i had to go somewhere, so i took a moment to slap together a little sketchbook. been a few days since i've drawn - i'm not so stiff, actually. maybe i'll get back to improving. gotta work on my PATIENCE and...everything else and then some.

05-04-2014, 12:56 AM
You draw like I used to.

...I miss drawing like that ;~;

05-05-2014, 01:47 AM
No really, you've been busy. But wow these are pretty awesome!

Really some great gestures going on and i love that bear in the boat thingy xD

The guitar guy really puts the dire straits songs in my head xD

06-09-2014, 07:00 AM
hey gaaaiz~ <33 okay i've been doing some stuff but let's see what i got to throw in here

how about commissions i'm working on?

good enough

06-09-2014, 12:44 PM
Hey, No really!
Love the sketches, the bottom one especially, I feel like it has a lot of life to it in the strokes.
Your really good at capturing everyday actions naturally, that is a great skill which I lack. Fantastic!

06-16-2014, 08:31 PM
I really love the movement on the gas-mask character! I think you're really starting to find a style for your human characters that's very unique, melike <3

07-20-2014, 02:00 AM
oh why not just copypaste some elgay entries from earlier this month into here.

been a while since i used my home scanner. don't mind me, i'm just PROCRASTINATING.

yet again i'm entertaining a foggy comic idea #534805738528 for years (like 8 years) and these are the pictures i drew up that suck the least.

i made our hero not quite red, and not quite ash - but close enough so you instantly know he's the protag in the g1 pokeymanz. same to his rival. the mons can talk just like people but due to blahblah blah whatever their interactions with humans are limited - due to blahwhatev pokeyman attacks have no effect whatsoever on people, as do pokeballs. but some special mons -like that butterfree character i've had for a few years that never got a name- can ascend to being on level with people. people can be "avatars" or "natives" to the realm of poggeymanz. our hero crimson is an avatar. he's also quite a fun little sleazebag. he'll be a little creep that likes to have fun.

our villain is a shiny mewtwo (also had that character for several years) but my drawing of him sucked.

we're having a special on jynxes, can you tell? i'm making all the mons...well, easier for ME to draw, i don't do details well and my hands are still shaky. i'm also making the mons individual. in the case of this particular jynx, you can see she has different things to wear. she's also "ascended". and cartoon beastiality is still funny.

our hero's loyal starter. he won't perv on her or anything.

so you may have figured out i mixed up a bunch of new custom crayola markers. i'm just practicing and having fun while i PROCRASTINATE.

i should get back into everything.

been up to stuff irl. also working on drawing better but uh...not much in the way of groundbreaking stuff.

few days ago. so i seem to have a few fire-type characters already - our hero's starter who kinda splits off from him due to personal differences, our rival's ninetails who is a part of a love triangle with our hero and the jynx, and this guy - a depressed arcanine. and of course the barkeep, some old "native" (npc) guy who listens to depressed pokeymen dump their baggage on him all day long.

guy on top left is just someone i drew from a youtube video, ignore him. practice of our hero crimson, and his rival azul. they look like they're in their thirties or something. azul will smell ya later, but he's actually going to be a pretty nice guy and not at all an obnoxious cockmunch. i went overboard with his hair. so crimson's a bit of an antihero - not much, he's just kinda sleazy, but not like 90's superantihero or anything. also, maybe you can tell here, idk, but for a long sort of time i wish i could accurately draw characters, props, and environments on a CONSISTENT scale from polygony to smooth and realistic, to differentiate the avatars (who i want to draw more realistically) from the natives and their world (more polygony and simple - even transparent). but easier said than done. especially when you're as picky and perfectionist as i am.

also azul is supposed to be a native, but i'm just working on his design.

practice drawing our leading lady. hm, got her too humanoid. i want her to look more cartoonish because it's not weird enough to have a human smooching on a very humanoid girlfriend. no, she's gotta look cute but wacky. also she has to become a badass to save the world and stuff.

07-22-2014, 03:16 AM
why not be more social.

i'm going to be creative and call it "pokemon crimson". because.

why yes i did get some ledger paper from a college printer.

and now

okay i've been busy lately but that doesn't mean i can't find time to practice/rough something out.

this isn't going to be the "finished product", obv - for one thing that's quite a ways away. for another, my gimmick is printer paper and sharpies or something.

i hope i don't ditch this like i ditch everything else.

i don't mean to ditch things.

07-22-2014, 02:20 PM
I really like the movement and expressions your characters have! It really adds life to them and gives off more personality.

I guess if I had to suggest anything it would be to avoid the lined paper at all costs, it makes it tougher on the eyes. STEAL ALL THE COLLEGE PRINTER PAPER!

08-28-2014, 07:39 AM
been a while

i've been getting back into drawing and coming out of another downer i guess (they always catch me), and back to working on personal projects that will go nowhere. as opposed to fan projects that will go nowhere.

i'm really not good at drawing fish and birds and stuff, but i've been working on designing a robo-shark character with turbines.

and i was struggling with designing a frustratingly hard robo-lion that's supposed to be simple to draw and...i don't know. and because i like to be distracted, some animoo characters crawled out from the screen and onto my paper.

i'm downloading more animoos, but i'll be breaking it up now and then with sensible good ol' amurrican toons.

09-03-2014, 01:04 AM
okay, so i got some drawz in while waiting around on my SUCCESSFUL!!!1 job hunt

i've decided to be more open about what i'm working on, because why not. well, the shame of knowing i'm not going anywhere too fast, but that's besides the point.

these are concept arts (read: characters dicking off) of my special snowflake project. they're not really in order, apart from order of scanning.

i'm working hard on the throat/neck/chin/lower face area. i have a hard time with that spot. i revived this character. had her for 6 years? she's special because she's psychic and is for all intents and purposes an orphan. she can hear what the mysterious robo-critters (they're not manmade) broadcast.

in addition to working on a robo-shark character, a robo-moose character has also been in the works, for the backstory. also that guy is drawn from life.

there's powerups way off in the expanses of this world, because i said so. the robo-cat character has the wind powerup (which is basically permanent) for the story where he raises the psychic girl from childhood. when she's an adult something happens that resets him (his memories from before stop existing), and he gets an ethers powerup that turns him into a robo-nekomata (and he can directly speak with humans). he keeps hitting on her.

the robo-fox is a new character. she helps an isolated farm family with their ailing elders. she wants the robo-cat to quit chasing human girls and enter a serious relationship with her.

our heroes, dayv (the tall guy with the apple icon shirt) and stan (the short, stocky guy). some animu fart and life scratches.

stan and a robo-gray-alien character in development. there's an isolated village with a population of space critters who have lived on "earth" and coevolved with humans for 600 years. they're very mysterious despite openly being "companions" (kleptoparasites with special protections) to humans for as long as they've been there. even with the previous civilization (which got mysteriously wiped out and there are ruins all over the place, including this village). stan has the talent of infiltrating all security and poking around in places people can only dream of. he finds equipment developed by the space critters that are clearly designed to be used to ride humans like horseys. kinky. also, someone's limbs irl.

some irl crap, and lil' dayv with some siblings.

dayv's siblings.

okay i got more things to do. which includes more drawing.

edit: and now you know my characters names ooohhh

09-03-2014, 01:39 AM
Neat doodles you got here, glad to see you're more active now. For spoilers, they've been the same since I joined. They're spoiler2 :P

09-03-2014, 10:25 PM
No really, I think you have one of my favorite sketchbooks. Love your Animoo's but you amarican art is super fantastic-o.

Love the robot shark and beginnings of the next robo animals (omg are you robotnik?)

09-13-2014, 02:17 AM
busy today, work tomorrow and the day after that, and next week might be interesting. got some concept art (read: characters floating in whitespace and really shitty architecture), new characters and aged characters. was breaking in some new markers. i didn't tinker with them yet, so they're oversaturated and not working super duper great.

guy with the olive clothes was a super fast life draw, not going for realism. the boats are from some time ago. guy on lower right is a new character.

attempts at memory drawing on left, new character on right.

the kids are new characters. i'll probably do little warm up life sketches of trucks or whatever in the blank space.

09-14-2014, 01:43 AM
stuff from my work notebook

new character

09-15-2014, 02:20 AM
got some drawings in since i got let out early!!

i owe someone art. thanks for your (on another forum) patience :B i'll make a finished thing soon.

gonna redesign my sona. apparently despite my love of lolling at lolcows, i'm really super straight-laced, serious, and no fun irl. oh well. life is full of contrasts.

drew this while sitting around outside getting harassed by wasps.

i forgot the specific details of what honey boo boo looks like, other than her smile is creepy as hell and she and a certain golden knight would be one true pair.

more personal crap. heard there's this robocat comic thing some peeps (on another forum) are doing. I HAVE A ROBOCAT CHARACTER!!1 he's one of my oldest characters actually. 8 years. his master i've had for 9 years.

09-20-2014, 12:28 PM
two little things from yesterday

09-23-2014, 04:17 AM

more fanart for a special someone.

due to 13 hour workdays, my art ain't gonna progress past this stage. oh well. i'm not dead on the outside.

10-20-2014, 05:14 PM
working on another non-organic character
idk what the deal with the scanner is
i'm gonna pick up that mary sue wolfaboo parody comic thing again
i'm starting to get better at vehicles. i want to come up with some xtremly scray vehicular monsters. also i had these totally rad toys as a kid, they were things like monster trucks and fighter jets WITH BIG GAPING TEETH maybe that's the insipration behind these monsters. cool. man those toys were rad.

since i've resurfaced and am rebuilding connections, people have high expectations of me. "wolves have interesting lives" is my dumb baby project ("wonderful world of stanton" is my precious baby) so i'll just be working on those. especially the wolf one so i can work on it during those comic making jams.

10-22-2014, 12:28 PM
Dude those are awesome! I am not really good at drawing vehicle either >.>
yours look quite good and I love the monster cars!
i was actually going to mention the toy, I know what your talking about, I still have some!!!
I have a green monster truck with giant teeth under the hood. he kind of looks like an alien as well xD

Not to mention an airplane with a tongue, teeth and eyes inside lmao xD
and i think my bro still has some other cars and trucks. I loved those, they ate a lot of toy people...
mainly my polly stockpots, because at the time they were the correct size

I also like the minitar guy, you sketches are so full of life, unlike mine which are all booooorrrrriiinnnnnnnnnnnggggggg ha ha ha xD

11-28-2014, 05:50 AM
personal idea as to what the protagonist of five nights at freddy's 2 might look like. plus combat flashlight. when i was a really little kid, my dad had this serious HUGE-ass black flashlight that you could totally kill people with, and it had a textured grip area, and it was really heavy and solid metal. totally a combat flashlight. which would really come in useful when you find yourself being assaulted by renegade animatronics.

i wasn't around when we had a chuck e cheese in my hometown, but it became a chinese diner. people called it "chuck e chin's", and it still had the chuck e cheese carpeting and allegedly a REALLY creepy room full of chuck e cheese stuff, but i never saw it.

i was disappointed to learn that this hot new game was not like silent hill, but rather like night trap. well, that's what imaginations and paper are here for.

the problem isn't with my scanner, it's with this shitty ass fucking horrible software.

life draws from yesterday

12-13-2014, 04:24 AM

i got my wish of more spare time so i'm trying to remember details about a project i'm working on

i want to make a stereotypical cheerleader ditzy blonde chick for it

actually this is the first thing i drew yesterday

doodlin' and some new characters

cars are drawn from photos, the women are from memory. screwed up on the fat one's arms

certainly not drawn yesterday

i think my life drawings have been much more accurate, if undetailed

as you can see i've also rekindled my love of rollerball pens since i found one at work

bit older. so you know the stereotypical androids/gynoids, robots that don't /need/ to be humans in metal suits apart from being actors on stage or screen. WELL. ages ago i thought about "seriously there's no need for robots to be that human in art or text", then i got to thinking "well, what if someone captured people and brainwashed them into thinking they're robots" and more recently i've been toying with the concepts of trans-whatever-kin and for another project that'll never get done i might have like a society of people who do their best to be like their robotic souls. and of course i like to make couples that don't quite fit, so robo-kin/cowgirl.

yeah that's it from my work notebook for now.
