View Full Version : What do YOU use your fursona for

02-13-2014, 07:32 AM
I have two fursonas. One I use for RP and art commissions. And one thats the main character in the story I plan to write.

What do you use your fursona for?

Do they have a backstory that goes with them?

02-13-2014, 07:41 AM
Don't really care for the persona thing much, but I just derped out a character whilst learning to draw a little bit back, and decided to keep it and just use him as a sort of online avatar.
The character was never supposed to really represent myself.

So, yeah. I guess I use my characters just as something to be seen as online, but mostly to always give me something fun to draw.

02-13-2014, 07:58 AM
All of them for story writing purpose.

The purple lizard is the special case though since he gets added to stuffs like fan fic and fan art if I feel like it.

02-13-2014, 08:03 AM
Like Hewge my slothsona is more of a 'face' that I wear around the fandom. I don't RP or anything.

Mine is a representation of myself.
Instead of having art done of me, I have it done of my 'sona doing things I'd do.
He is me and I am him.

02-13-2014, 11:08 AM
My fursona is just sort of an abstract portrait of myself. I've basically only ever had art commissions.

02-13-2014, 11:09 AM
As an avatar mostly.

She's also a character in a story whom I've been slowly moving to the background since she's sort of me but not at the same time. I wouldn't say she's really a sona or whatever, but close enough.

02-13-2014, 01:16 PM
She's just something to draw, when I get bored enough.
Something I made up, for the sake of making it up. Or because it's "obligatory," as a furry.

She doesn't really have any specific backstory. Her story is implied to just follow mine, with an anthro animal coat of paint slapped on. I don't see the point in giving her a different character, if she's basically supposed to be representative of myself.

02-13-2014, 01:47 PM
I wish that people could tell the differences between "OC" from "fursona." Really.
My fursona is a representation of me. I also use her as an online image/icon so people may recognize me easier. No background story here.

02-13-2014, 06:22 PM
I basically just use my fursona as the basic character for any furry art/writing I do. I have a general unpublished backstory for her but overall I'm not so furry that I consider her a representation of myself in any way.

Pretty much nothing... don't know why I have one really.

02-13-2014, 08:53 PM
Mostly as an online avatar and roleplay character. Plus, commissioning or receiving art of him just plain makes me happy <3

02-13-2014, 11:25 PM
To make art about stuff I may be feeling or going through without actually having to draw my weird face.

02-13-2014, 11:30 PM
Rorick, my fursona, has two distinct, and separate, roles. His first role, and original when I made him years ago (Different form though), was as roleplay/story character. He continues to be one to this day, and I'm planning on writing a background story on him, as well as all my other characters.

His second role is as my furry avatar. This is distinctly different from his "story" role, though his persona stays virtually the same, with some details, such as his mate, changed. His story variant allows me some leway in his development and placement, while his avatar variant is pretty much a rough collie version of myself.

02-14-2014, 12:04 AM
porn i mean, uh,

pretty much as a character representation of me without actually BEING me. i have drawn myself as a character and it's different than my fursona.

02-14-2014, 01:01 AM
My fursona is just a representation of myself. He gets put in much more exaggerated situations that I couldn't physically handle, but otherwise he's just me as a talking animal loser.

02-14-2014, 01:30 AM
I have at least two fursonas that I use fior different things.

One is my My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic OC, Wolf, and I use her for my various MLP: FiMart and fanfics. I'm also starting to use her for various RPGs that I'm starting to get interested in.

The other is my Biker Mice From Mars OC, Whitewolf BlackRuby, who is, of course, a Martian Mouse, Martian Freedom Fighter, Martian Ninja and Healer. She's the oldest of the two, and I also use her in my BMFM-related art and fics. And this includes crossovers of both.

I use my sona as a sona. Don't really use it for anything other than being part of the fandom.

02-17-2014, 03:07 PM
my 'sona isn't a fur, but rather a mer. i don't use him/her/it/they/??? much because i don't really have a need to, but the merperson can do a good job representing what i've been up to/my current state whenever i feel like illustrating that and i'm having a good art day. but generally i actually like representing myself with something really abstract or an inanimate object. it's certainly different.

but i've always had this thing about merfolk.

02-17-2014, 10:51 PM
A visual vessel in which to interact with the virtual world.

Commissions, personifications, etc. The sona itself has two sides though, one in character (in roleplays) and one out of character.

Alll of my other characters are comic characters.

02-17-2014, 11:03 PM
I admit I use mine 100% straight up. It's a projection of how I view myself, and the stories he's involved in are metaphors for things I'm dealing with in my life. I'm 24 but I feel old, so I made him 30. I feel like I'm stuck in a rut, so I made him stuck in a rut, etc.

Lucy Bones
02-18-2014, 06:54 AM
I more use it around other furries and furry-friendly sites. If there's not many furs around, don't expect me to wear the flag. :B

02-18-2014, 12:54 PM
Pretty much anything with my online "identity". I have a very close attachment to my fursona and I think she's a better way to portray my personality and such online.

02-18-2014, 01:26 PM
I only use mine for art purposes, and because I felt compelled to create one for some reason, even though it isn't exactly "essential" or whatever.

02-18-2014, 02:02 PM
He's everything terrible and dire rolled into one video game screenshot.

02-19-2014, 08:10 PM
Depressively moping around on the internet.

Also cuddling. If can be done.

Zarya is just an avatar for myself. He's cuter than me, that's all, really. He's not a "character", just me.

02-23-2014, 02:55 AM
My fursona is pretty much me? I draw her and get commissions of her and thats basically how I like to be addressed and thought of in the furry community and at Cons :3

02-26-2014, 09:00 AM
Mine is kinda like Alvin, and Myself his creator who he lives with.
So Comic use, and Cosplay

02-26-2014, 04:00 PM
Well, I view my fursona as an animal-representation of myself and as such I use her as a sort of stand-in for my drawings though I don't/won't rp with her. I also use her to draw how I'm feeling sometimes so whatever situation I'm in she usually gets put into. Although I do draw alternate universe versions of her (MLP/lion king/etc.) that I'm more inclined to use for rp purposes than her.

Lady Jupiter
02-26-2014, 04:13 PM
My fursona is basically used to personify me. She's used in almost all of my vent/expression art and just basically.... everything to do with/about me. She grows as I grow and changes as I change, just something to show me how far I've gone and how far I have yet to go.

I also mainly use her when I RP x3

02-27-2014, 08:21 PM
My fursona/persona is a more awesome representation of me and a face I like to have in communities, as I've had him for quite a few years on DeviantART. He started off as a 'what-if' type of project, but his face stuck to me like super glue.
I'm kinda stuck with him.
But he's cool.

Epitome Fox
03-10-2014, 03:23 PM
Mine is my furcadia character. She is much a representation of myself. Around the fandom, I use Epitome as my alias. I am excited about bringing her to life in costume this year. I recently commissioned a head (the artist told me abuot weasyl) I bought paws, a tail. I am slowly stocking up on things I will need to make the footpaws and bodysuit myself. :)

03-10-2014, 11:29 PM
Well, I generally use Rye (http://amaranth-characters.weebly.com/rye.html) as my fursona. At one point I was using Crow (https://www.weasyl.com/submission/247721/r-crow-2013), but she branched off into her own character after a short time.

For Rye, I use her as just a way of expressing emotions or venting or whatever. I am also working on a novel (to be comic) with her as one of the main characters. :)

03-11-2014, 12:51 PM
mine's kind of used as both a fursona and a mascot of sorts for stuff i do as of late. basically he's "me", at least as far as personality goes.

i did have other personas in the past that i've used to represent me but i've pretty much outgrown them now.

Zukaro Travon
03-12-2014, 09:32 PM
I use my fursona to represent myself. As well, I use my fursona as a plan for the future when I become a robot fox. :3 Cuz I intend to make that happen.
But my fursona is 100% me.

03-16-2014, 01:11 PM
Right now, it isn't really used for much else besides being a thing I commission artists to draw sometimes. :whistling:

I should probably start doing something else with it.

03-16-2014, 01:33 PM
Pretty much nothing... don't know why I have one really.

going to second this

He is even hardly ever my avatar online, I just use one of my characters like I did now, pffr

03-17-2014, 01:06 AM
Mine is an albatross. Not like the bird. Like, you know, a burden. I can't abandon him now. He's in me too deep. Wait that came out wrong. Shit. Oh well, have a vid!

03-17-2014, 02:10 AM
I don't "use" mine for anything yet, except as my avatar here and on FA, however the description I've put behind her is more or less a reflection of the real me, but with some things changed, like giving her a "brighter" personality than what I have (she's less jaded than I am). Maybe something that I could learn to be for real (well, aside from being a cat :P ). Sooner or later I will get a fursuit made, but when and how much like my current incarnation, who can say. :)

03-23-2014, 04:59 PM
My fursona is my representation of me and my OCs are just various characters I have. All of them are mostly used for art practice, story making, and just having fun with it in general. I don't think I've had a serious or solid reason for making them at any point? (⊙△⊙✿)

I AM planning to sell some prints and stickers of the monster dogs I draw! So hopefully people would like those. V●ᴥ●V

03-23-2014, 05:10 PM
I use mine as a facade on FA and Weasyl. Dmitry isn't my real name, but I have other professional art things that probably shouldn't be connected with drawing porn. I'm not ashamed of it at all, but I don't want to lose customers because of it (not everyone agrees with it I guess). But I'm still true to myself and how I act, he just gives me a name and face to be on the sites.

I have two fursonas. One I use for RP and art commissions. And one thats the main character in the story I plan to write.

What do you use your fursona for?

Do they have a backstory that goes with them?

I have only one fursona but he is somewhat everything in one, he is my model for commissions and he is my main character in my story. He has a backgroundstory, it is mostly based on my own past but somethings are just some exaggerations of my experiences.

Mine's both an online avatar, RP character (he started as one, but he grew on me so much x3) and... Well, as the name "fursona" implies, he's also my persona. It's me in there, no less nor more o: To the point that it's only the physical difference that set us apart.

At one point my 'sona was also my own role model. Being childish, playful, smug, athletic and energetic. All this stuff that back then I wasn't. Happy. So instead of just accepting him as a mirror contrast to my real life, I've put him in a pedestal and gone through the struggle to BE like him. Shovel out all my hardships, my excuses, my pain and my grumpiness... All the stuff that was, ironically enough, making me act my age. Making my life losing its colors.

Yeah I know. That just placebo effect in the end. But it made my life much more worthy living, so what's there to complain? ^w^

(wish I was athletic as he is though. Gots me a big deal of reflex, agility and stamina with that deal, but SHEESH there's still a pillow-belly in here that I could do away with >P)

03-27-2014, 04:23 PM
Both of my Fursonas, Takiro and Tao, are what creates me, the person behind the screen. They are both complete opposites, comparing to species, fur color, personality, and history.
Takiro Ryn, which is a set Fursona, was the first to be my main character in my first written story. She's a silver fox with a shy and quiet personality, and she has been kept in the dark for most of her life to where she doesn't know about much of the modern world.
Her story is here: http://www.sofurry.com/browse/folder/stories?by=146762&folder=22591

Tao, who has been a Fursona for me way before Takiro was created, has changed color and patterns over the years until I stuck with her neon green and blue design. She's a she-wolf that is head-strong, arrogant, and can basically take care of herself. She tends to be more of a party girl and has a few friends to keep her company.
And Her story is here: http://www.sofurry.com/view/681943 (You will probably have to read Ryn's story first to understand a few parts of this one. xD)

I have created stories for them, and have gotten art of them to make them seem more alive and real to me.

04-06-2014, 03:46 PM
I use Lunar mostly for art; though she is kind of an extension of myself, I also can't draw humans worth a shit, so I put Lunar in the scenarios I imagine and draw for myself.

Groovy Salade
04-11-2014, 09:46 AM
I use my fursona for representing me on furry sites, hes also a character in the fictional world that exists in my mind that one day I hope to write about.

05-07-2014, 02:22 AM
Comics, drawings, stories, mascots. I personally don't have a "fursona" I usually consider them as my characters, but yeah I love my scalie and furries characters! ^^

Berlin Katze
05-07-2014, 05:46 AM
I have two fursonas. Berlin is my main but both are used mostly for art, sometimes roleplay (but sorta rarely)

05-07-2014, 11:47 AM
bread puns

05-07-2014, 01:36 PM
YCH obscure fetish auctions.

05-07-2014, 04:06 PM
My Fursona Angellothefox I use it in Weasyl and FA.
While I am Angellothefox I try to be friendly and post friendly stuff on other peoples art. Odd occasions I accentually annoyed some furs but all well. I try.
My other Fursona Crystal Fire at is a black and red dragon I only have just used him in one of my pieces.
He is always on about world domination so he is a evil furry.
If I ever get a costume made fursuit for my Crystal Fire fursona I could go into politics.

06-07-2014, 12:02 AM
I've been starting to use a character I named Harley, whom I got through another site. She wasn't made by me, but fits with who I am as a being and I couldn't imagine not having her as a character, let alone my fursona. She's legit the animal version of myself.
She's going to be the first one I ever get as a fursuit. ;u;

I have another character, Michelle, whom I've started calling a fursona recently too, but I'm not sure how well she clicks with that as her title. xD

06-18-2014, 03:45 PM
I have two fursonas. My otter one I use as a self-representation for furry happenings and social comics and such, whereas my vulture 'sona I use as a personal fursona for doodles and such. There's a deeper, more personal reason for the turkey vulture 'sona that I don't really go into normally!

06-19-2014, 05:24 AM
Online avatar purpose. Mainly, when I'm drawing silly shenanigans with my friends about things happening in RL or in online chat or whatever, my personal character is there to symbolize myself. And that's it really.

07-02-2014, 08:32 PM
Yeah I use mine mostly as a handle. People be like "Ohhh you're that coffee sloth guy." It easier to get around in the fandom that way.

07-19-2014, 11:16 PM
Just as a representation of myself as an animal character

Auriel Kitsu

Why it's just a side of me that most people aren't allowed to see.

I work very hard at passing for human.

You could say my life depends on it.

While I'm marooned on this world I have adventures with "People", I mostly study human sciences, do technical writing and illustration, work in IT as an analyst and engineer, play with computer based technology in general, write stories, write music, draw, paint. At some point each of those skills has gotten me in life threatening trouble. On Earth I've learned that you really can be too smart for your own good. So I've learned the hard way to watch what I do and guard my tongue.

07-30-2014, 06:50 PM
I'm an old school lifestyler, so I don't use it for anything. He is me and I am him.

08-11-2014, 06:41 PM
I use my fursona for pretty much everything that has to do with a fursona. Including but not limited to, my twitter, my FAF, and weasyl! I use it for everything!

08-14-2014, 12:40 AM
For some games. My username on furcadia. Just random stuff. Oh and the new fursuit. Can't forget that.

08-15-2014, 05:55 PM
i was talking about this with my friend and i feel like there are three sorts of groups here:

1) people who have fursonas because of their general interest of the animal, etc
2) people who do it for the sake of doing so, because why not
3) people who draw symbolism for themselves, using the fursona as an extension of self-expression

there are overlaps to this, certainly; i fall within all three of the groups, for example

10-16-2014, 05:02 AM
I do not roleplay, but I do use the character to represent myself. It just started as something, hey I need/or want a fursona, hmm what animal should I use? Ohh thats fun lets make it a Mammoth cause I like Elephants ^_^ And being furry why not make it a fluffy mammoth. Pink, I love pink, lets use that! I gave here attributes of my own, but I just mixed it with fantasy/fiction background story and all that what I like or enjoy.

Atm I just simply like to draw her myself or commission her for all kind of art and themes I like. I made her a magical girl, cause well why not right? I like it ^_^!I have allot of stories in mind, eventually the idea is to use her as the main heroine for my comic ♥ but for now, she is me and will represent me and my art and anything furry, artist or me related ♥

10-16-2014, 08:28 PM
For representing myself as an idealized animal version of myself. I draw her a lot too

10-18-2014, 04:09 PM
Just me as an anthro devil I suppose. Just how I choose to present myself in the online world.

10-19-2014, 04:53 AM
Sometimes for role playing, when a friend wants to, but other characters have that as their main purpose.
This one, though, is both a representation of myself and the protagonist of a story I'm trying to get written someday.

10-19-2014, 05:25 AM
I have a bunch, mostly just animals/creatures that I feel are like my "self", I draw whichever one based on what shapes I want to make. It's mostly just visual shorthand for "me", instead of trying to draw my physical self...heck, even when I draw a "human me" I slap demon wings and a tail on that sucker! I like to believe that it signals that it's fantasy, that I'm not trying to totally be accurate or worry about actually making a portrait, because I nag on it otherwise.

10-19-2014, 06:02 AM
kind of like a mascot, i guess? i use him to represent and express my thoughts and desires and the way i view myself as a person. he is me in every way except physically, but i am not him if that makes sense.

12-08-2014, 01:33 PM
I guess they're a representation of myself in some ways. Only used for the Furry fandom as well as giving me something to draw and practice anthro. :3

01-02-2015, 01:42 AM
For me? Just artwork usually. I don't role play all that much, and in the Fandom she represents me.
So when I go to conventions and such I just wear my badges so people can identify me.

03-26-2015, 01:53 PM
While I am an avid roleplayer I don't use my fursona for it. My fursona represents 'me' so it would feel weird to play with him - at least for me.
I mainly use Xarox for artwork and - as I said - to represent me online. He is some kind of 'avatar' to me.

03-27-2015, 09:34 AM
Commissions and sometimes RPing.
I think he kind of looks hot in porn too...

03-27-2015, 10:50 AM
My representation, my "mascot" for me as an artist, and just to be fluffy.

03-27-2015, 11:08 AM
I created mine as a "mascot" when I first joined FA, because I didn't want to stick out like a sore thumb with my human-character. c:

03-28-2015, 06:04 AM
My main Fursona, Stakie represents me. So basically any site where I can, she represents me. At times even in roleplay. =3

03-28-2015, 09:23 AM
Mine is a representation of me. He is used in online settings, of course, as a name and face to give to people I'm interacting with. He's supposed to be me with more fur and pointier teeth, so maintaining him is easy. I also use him for certain stories. Occasionally, he'll be the author.

He also exists as a character in certain works and has an unpublished backstory, but that's a different thing.

03-29-2015, 09:05 PM
Well, stories and such, and my sona has a huge backstory with an entire multiverse and mythos for her to roam about in. x3

03-31-2015, 01:33 AM
I made mine because before I had one people kept mistaking one of my personal characters for my fursona, this character was nothing like me at all so I made one that was and I really liked what I came up with. No roleplaying, no backstory just a putting a "face" to my online name.

03-31-2015, 08:54 AM
I use mine for stories, art and rping. Though I am planning on making another character for roleplay and making my fursona just for stories and art.

03-31-2015, 01:22 PM
I've got like, three main characters now. Deo the Tasmanian devil lady is one I've had the longest. She started out as a character, then a face for me, and then just basically an online version of myself.

Frig the mule is probably the most conceptual. He represents the men and mules who in the 19th century sweated, bled, and died for the rise of the machine age and societal progress. Our current world is built on their backs, forged in steel and coal and rail. He's sort of a symbol of toil and struggle and the history of the working class. The theme of "the worker as the hero" or some sort of imbued nobility in struggle. I plan on having some really cool historical pieces of him with themes on historical worker's rights events and US folk heroes like John Henry.

Dalibor the cicada is because I love cicadas. He's a mishmash of people I've worked with, and sort of a counter to my character Deo. He's mostly based off the old Bosnian guy who taught me the ropes when I jumped from college studying scientific illustration to industrial work. It was love/hate. He was constantly trying to drive me away, was a terrible mysoginist, and we had so many cultural barriers. But in the end we were also sort of friends, our safety and lives depended on each other, and our work was in tandem the forced time together made a weird bond of friendship. Dalibor is that muddled up inter-relation of old-world beliefs and "good ol' boys club" that gets thrown in to the new world where "diversity" is the HR hot button issue. He's the old ways trying to teach the new ways while still resenting the changes. He's just all the people I work with blended in to one so it's easier for me to deal with them every day if I have to think about why they are how they are and their motivations as I apply it to a character of my own.

04-04-2015, 09:15 PM
I just use mine as a sort of representation of myself, something that is me and something i can attatch to in that sense? Plus i found my fursona to really help me out expressing myself :D and if not then maybe expressing things i like in people in which i want to see in myself?.

05-14-2015, 03:26 AM
I have two but one sorta just happened.
In short, I was going to make a mascot to represent my account on FA, catterhatter, and so I made Catter Hatter, the anthro bobcat. But he ended up representing me too. Took on the form of an alter ego. He's my more aggressive side. The part of me that can be dark, dangerous, jaded, and tough... my defensive self. But he's still good and all just me in a different focus and mindset than my normal.

My normal, kind and empathetic self is Deslucin. He's an anthro caracal which was granted draconian properties through a gem he was "destined" to find. It fused to his tail turning it into a dragon's tail with the gem as its tip. He can turn into the dragon with some feline features as well, but it tires him immensely so it is rare that he's even able to do it.

I don't really RP with these two or do much other than make some art of them at times. I express myself as Catter now and again because I think I'm cool when I'm more confident and a little hot-blooded with a mix of humorous and laid-back. I could easily put them in stories or make more for Deslucin beyond his origins. I just haven't yet.

08-21-2015, 09:38 AM
Mostly just self representation, a persona put in animal form that contains tons of physical and personality characteristics of myself, and it just pleases me to draw 'myself' in a situation or in a facial expression in this form.

I've never been as great at human drawing anyways and my wolf form with wings captures this essence much better

08-21-2015, 10:45 AM
I have a collection of names that I frequently use (mostly for Etrian Odyssey parties and the like), so I decided to tie them all to a set of furry characters. They're all representative of me in some way, just focusing on specific traits. Oh, and I have a partial fursuit of Rinpoe (the one in my current avatar) in the works and will eventually have at least partials of my entire cast in the long term. Short term plan is to get ref sheets done for all of them and have chibi versions in a banner for my sig.

PS: Bonus point to OP in my book, Stafy is awesome :D

08-21-2015, 10:47 AM
Online avatar, alter-ego, masturbation tool, professional fuckbuddy and whore.

08-21-2015, 11:50 AM
I basically use mine as an avatar. He has my name, my personality and interests, all that jazz. It's me, just in anthro form.

08-21-2015, 11:50 AM
I use my fursona(s) to represent the different "modes" my mind likes to escape to over time. I currently have two of them who are both one and the same, but are presented differently. Sometimes his name is Lambda and, any time else, his name is Rat. Rat tends to be a lot more realistic in the way he's presented and is used for things closer to my own reality than with Lambda who is an executioner among many other crazy things.

my fursona is basically me, in fur form, with better physical attributes. he for the most part is my clone though.

08-22-2015, 09:17 PM
My fursona is kind of a dream form, set in an alternate reality. I pretty much use him as an avatar, profile pics on everything. He is me, an enhanced version. Older, more talented, and physically augmented for greater strength.

08-22-2015, 10:19 PM
I made this parody haxorus character that represented me in the FAF comics. A group of us where going to work on a comic project, but now.. since the forum not in good shape.I don't know if that's going to happen. I'm using him as my icon right now. I might make a different icon in the future.

I think I'm going back to my gryphon for an icon.

08-23-2015, 09:02 AM
He's an idealised version of myself, personality wise. Subject to the same problems and all that. And a sexy wolf, of course. I've thought of using him in a story or something, and I'm pretty sure he'd make an interesting challenge, since he's based on my own personality.

Oh yes. So. An online avatar, an idealised projection and a sexy bastard. Now stroke my ego.

08-23-2015, 09:32 AM
I think my fursona is just an improved version of myself, in a way.

Nothing more to it I'm afraid

Tycho Aussie is a hyper, people loving ham. I use my fursona for entertaining people in my community, as well as at work, on occasion. I've taken my fursona and fursuit to professional conventions, and it helps distinguish this scientist from the thousands of others at the convention because everyone remembers the big dog! All I need to say is "The aussie shepherd at the convention" and they all say "Oh, I remember you!".

08-24-2015, 01:57 AM
LoL. Nothing really. I use them when I need something to draw and at conventions I go by my fursona's name. I don't roleplay, I don't like what roleplaying turns into in the furry fandom.

Wait... You're the suiter from this pic (https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-RGEJG283-FM/UmdhSY53EYI/AAAAAAAAnZg/A3VIl4rTXJ0/w459-h660/tycho.png), aren't you? Mind providing a little context? XD (Very nice suit, by the way.)

As for the main topic, I just use my 'sona, Umbra, as an avatar of sorts... Usually for derpy little doodles or comics of stuff I feel, or funny things that happen to me. Umbra doesn't have a backstory of their own, and their personality is similar to mine, although possibly a little goofier.

08-24-2015, 07:16 PM
Agitoho is sort of an odd case. I created my own version of Hell, based on other interpretations of Lucifer's fall, and he's the Prince, as well as a Devil. As a result, he's overpowered, so I couldn't use him in an RP if I wanted to be fair about it. He represents the me I wish I could be, someone who isn't so shy, someone who'll always speak his mind. However, he's old, to reflect how it feels like I've been "here" forever. Because he's lived for so long, he occasionally has an existential crisis based on the fear that he's seen everything and will wake up one day with nothing to do. He eventually finds his mate and has a child, which sort of helps him out a bit. He's got his own life, his own story, family and friends. He's more of ideal I'd like to reach and not necessarily me. However, as far as personas go, I've had him the longest and it's easy to slip into his mindset, so I feel like he's a part of me.

09-15-2015, 04:13 PM
This gorgeous Hawaiian shirt clad canine to my left is just an online avatar for now. Maybe someday a fursuit but i probably won't ever be able to afford it. The name was taken from my first D&D character though.

09-15-2015, 05:33 PM

Your ego is so.... BIG!!! *strokes ego* And it smells quite pungent.

Anyways. Back to the OP. I created Mei as a projection of myself. We share the same personality, eye color, likes/dislikes, etc. Honestly I never thought I would get so sucked into the fandom, but I dove in headfirst and am now enjoying some character RP on this forum as well. I love nerding out :3

I have used the name 'Mei' in various MMORPG/online games for years now, so it was easy to stick with it ^^ IRL my name is Mia, so it's not to far off :p

09-16-2015, 10:38 AM
My fursona is Otto von Bismarck and I'm going to paint him in a small pool enjoying a heineken and hotdog.

09-16-2015, 05:43 PM
It's just a cartoon version of me. I don't feel the need to make him entirely different from me. The little things I add/change are mostly eye candy LOL.

09-20-2015, 11:46 PM
I only just made mine so I'm not too sure yet, really...

I'm pretty proud of her though. :3

ummm i have one sona, and i use him mainly just for avatars and such. no back story yet.... but im planning one

09-21-2015, 04:19 PM
I guess it's time I added Viceroy to the roster. He's a mythical fursona beasty. But I'll point out he's more of my mascot, my stand-in, my proxy. Hence his name, Viceroy. An extension of me. A representation of my disjointedness, my ability (or disability) to completely zone out and lose track of time, and inner struggles. How this became manifest I'm not sure I know.

He's currently in a RP. But mainly I use him for the face of my Weasyl account.

09-22-2015, 09:06 PM
I use Kiza (the shark) and Bel mostly as just reoccurring characters that I like to draw of my own. I guess kiza has more traits similar to m, and is more of a stand in within my art, I still use her more as a subject to play around with since I don't really RP. Same with Bel.

Mr Fox
09-23-2015, 04:04 PM
I don't really do RP but it serves well as an identity. :/

09-23-2015, 08:29 PM
My fursona is Zop and I use him for erotic mlp fetish rp like basically every1 else does right why else r u in teh fandumb oh and he eats other furryz cuz he r a fierce predadurrrr.

Sounds like the norm. Eat me, Zop.

09-24-2015, 01:26 PM
Do Persona's count? :P

Moogie is more of how I'd like to be in terms of personality, & her image is mainly just a face for my accounts. There's my own traits though I've put in her of myself so I guess she's both a 'sona & OC.

09-26-2015, 02:56 AM
my fursona is otto von bismarck because he was widely admired for his consumption of food and drink, traits i think we can all consider virtuous.

09-26-2015, 01:15 PM
I pretty much only use my fursona as an avatar for furry sites.

10-05-2015, 11:17 PM
Found a new use. I printed my screaming cat head av onto a pillow. Now every night i cum in its mouth, kiss it goodnight, and feed it gerber baby food. After a month of doing this the pillow looks and smells kinda gross but if i wash it it might stop loving me...

Well this thread went downhill fast.

Well this thread went downhill fast.

Laughed really loud, not gonna lie.

Eh, Pat (grey cat thing I use as a fursona) is just supposed to represent me, either for vent art or just to make funny faces in reaction to things. It's a very plain and neurotic cat thing.

Well this thread went downhill fast.

More like it reached the peak of the mountain within an instant!

1. Sylverwolfe - a Grey Wolf, I have a fursuit of him but I do not use this fursona for profiles anymore. It is the suit I have had the longest, over 10 years, and it is the suit I do not mind if it gets a little bit dirty. He has seen more non furry events than my others. My favorite events I have worn him to were small town parades and TEA Party rallies.
2. Skylar the Husky - an Alaskan Husky (Siberian Husky Alaskan Malamute Hybrid), I have a fursuit and wore the suit to conventions. I use this name most of the time on forums and various art sharing sites.

As of late, I have kind of blended Sylverwolfe and Skylar into one. I use a grey wolf avatar and call myself Skylar Husky. But then my Husky fursuit doesn't really look like a husky either.

3. Bruno - An American Beaver, I have a fursuit of him. It is a lightweight suit and is good for suiting in hot South Texas days.
4. Petrus - a Sugar Glider, I have a fursuit of him. I use this suit only when entertaining guests and acting goofy at my house, hosting parties and having friends over.
Lung-Shan the Destroyer - A Giant Panda, I have a fursuit of him. He has made a few appearances at conventions but I like to mostly appear in him at Chinese New Year celebrations, YMCA carnivals and Church Carnivals.
I do not post pictures of these fursuits. The pictures that are out there are things I have found that others have taken and posted to flickr.

Wow! I discovered the anthro world just some time ago and I like it so much that I've started ambitious projects, but I've never created a furry character that represents myself. It seems a complicated exercise, though, because self portraits that really show the creator are very hard to find :) Anyway, see you around!

well so far i use Eagle for mainly an avatar image, as well as an avatar on games, me in anouther life wether RPs, games, books, etc. and ummm... oh and somthing to dress up as on halloween and such....

11-10-2015, 02:31 AM
I forged illegal subway tokens. i used a coin press to stamp my cat on some tokens and rode the underground rails of toronto like a cave hobo for 10 hours today. well thats my fursona use for the week byye

12-06-2015, 07:54 AM
i have 2 fursonas,

one fursona is basically just used to represent me, i usually draw them for announcements or comics or mostly just when i'm bored.
the other one is used for a story i'm writing and i draw him a lot more often

01-14-2016, 05:02 PM

01-16-2016, 03:44 PM
For my other character it's creating things that surround him like backstory, personality, et cetera.

01-22-2016, 02:17 AM
my sona has always been the way I've seen myself. its me just the furry version.

01-25-2016, 09:13 PM
I use Babe for pinups and roleplay, and Chella is mostly just for roleplay. I don't do much NSFW art of her!

01-29-2016, 07:20 AM
My character is singularly a character I draw. The only thing about them that's similar to me is personality, the rest is pretty much "alien".

03-08-2016, 01:08 PM
Actually for quite allot. But nothing came to live so far. While it firstly serves as a representative I also want to use it for a comic. It looks creepy at first but when you think about how many cartoonist did that just think about charly brown, sparky absolutely nailed his own personality in charly, you get it charles becomes charly, yeah sparky really wasn't to supte about this. Also I like to see myself in different stories like different lives, and first of all a comic has to make yourself fun noone else.

Anyway I am carrying away. I also sort of have a second fursona which is just my old fursona. You know for good measure.

03-08-2016, 04:25 PM
I still need to design my Fursona. It's been floating around in my head for a while, I just need to get it down on paper (read laptop)

All I really have planned for my Fursona so far is to make avatars with him and I'll probably put him in some comics too.

03-10-2016, 11:44 AM
As an avatar and not much else.

05-23-2016, 01:24 PM
It's just a visual representation of how I see myself, and to an extent what I wish I was physically.

05-23-2016, 11:19 PM
Kiri (aka "Kiriness", my Kirin character) is basically a 2.0 of another main character I used to have. I haven't finalized her colors and design yet, but I'm basically just using her as my 'sona/the way I'm representing myself online/an art subject/whatever. I don't really RP much anymore and don't think I'd use her for any other purpose. MAYBE I'll pick up the pen for once in years and make some sort of fic involving her, but that's pretty uncertain because I'm far too lazy and have no ideas.

05-25-2016, 03:40 AM
I use Rinku for RP and as a representation of myself in the community. I'd love there to be more, but there's only so much.

06-29-2016, 03:28 PM
I use it to represent myself online, as well as the protagonist of a story i'm writing.
Though he does resemble the way i look pretty much in terms of build, accessories, and hair.

09-01-2016, 01:44 AM
I mainly use him for art. Whenever I get the urge to draw, I gotta draw something! And hes a great way to express myself. Since I mainly draw and enjoy feral characters, it's nice to be able to express my feelings through a dog. I also like to get art of him from others. Sometimes I think about fursuiting but at the same time I'm not even that into anthro characters themselves.

Klezmer Gryphon
06-16-2017, 11:12 AM
My sona gets used mainly for art and roleplay (mainly the former, since I don't do much serious roleplaying nowadays), although I have thought about making a mod for New Vegas that adds him in as a follower.

06-25-2017, 02:41 AM
Online avatar and artistic representations of interests that don't suit my other characters.

A loose backstory kind of developed over time, resulting in the creation of yet more characters. I'm not sure exactly when or where I lost control of it all...

07-06-2017, 01:27 AM
Considering I'm the Cartoonist my Fursona is a mirror of my Wiseass self in Fur form and does the things I wish I could. I also am the artist and live with my Fursona who is a terrible roommate and trouble source.

I like to think of it much akin to Alvin and the Chipmunks as Dave Seville is their creator and lives in their world.

07-11-2017, 08:35 PM
My Fursona is more of a character... but I use him to represent how I want to feel and at the same time how I do feel... which is borderline happy and whatever I feel like being XD
Even though he's the biggest, I usually make him the scape goat among my O.C's... probably because I get made one of irl ._. It honestly feels nice to take that feeling out on someone who can't feel, but at the same time it's a little frustrating, because that would mean I technically would treat myself like that D:<
...Now that I think of it I might start using him for better reasons than being the Luigi of my misfit O.C's
He's always been more of someone I'd like to know than me I guess ._.
For a fursona I don't exactly use him for what I want people to see in me. Just what I want to see in digital form... I'm not hot btw
