View Full Version : February Update

02-03-2014, 10:52 PM
Hi again, everyone!

We’re humbled by how active the site has been recently, and we wanted to let you know we’ve been active on our end as well. You may be aware of some of these updates already, but for those who might have missed them, we want to make sure you're informed.

First of all, we’ve introduced additional functionality to our folders. In addition to changing the directory for your folders, we’ve included options allowing you to control how submissions appear! Users can now use folders to rotate featured submissions on their profile. Maybe you don't want submissions in a certain folder to send out notifications? Users can now do that, too-- even if you just don't want it to show up on the front page! If you’d like to create a folder for scraps or avoid a flood of work showing up to your followers, these options are now available to you.

Additionally, we’ve noted Critique Wanted and Friends-Only submissions as such on their pages as well as giving submissions’ download links names that include the artist and the title. We’ve also allowed a preview window for your comments so you can know exactly how your comment will look before you submit it. For those still unfamiliar with the nomenclature of Markdown, please check out the guide on our help page here (https://www.weasyl.com/help/markdown), as well as our new guides on how best to search (https://www.weasyl.com/help/searching)and how best to implement your folders (https://www.weasyl.com/help/folders).

We’re always looking for suggestions on how to improve the site, so we’ve implemented a public bug and feature tracker here (https://redmine.weasyl.com/). We’ve made significant improvements to our backend, worked to prevent Weasyl emails going to spam, and added page titles to user pages. We've also removed the ability to favorite your own work, as well as fixed a bug that disallowed the option to view submissions with tags on your block list. But there is always space for improvement! If something about the site is troubling you or if there is a feature you’d like to see implemented, please do not hesitate to track it (https://redmine.weasyl.com/).

Thanks again to everyone who has given Weasyl a shot, and thanks to everyone who took the time to submit moderator applications! We'll be back with more news in that regard soon.

If you haven’t added us on Tumblr (http://blog.weasyl.com/)and Twitter (https://twitter.com/weasyl), please do so if you’re interested. Also, consider joining the Weasyl community on our forums (https://forums.weasyl.com/vbulletin/forum.php). Additionally, you can always contact us directly at support@weasyl.com.

Hell yeah! I don't know what you guys did, but it used, for me, to take up to 2 min for the frontpage thumbs or a submission to fully load, and now it's way faster!

Yea that got updated after we made this post. The rollovers were kind of nifty but not very user friendly for a lot of users. Browsers updates tended to break it for some reason, then it'd start working again, plus it's totally unusable for mobile device users. Can't roll over if you don't have a cursor!

Nicely done, thanks for changing how titles display so that they work on phones - didn't even notice that being a problem until I actually started using my phone to browse :]
