View Full Version : What fandoms did you used to be in? What fandoms are you in now?

Fiz

Starting from when I was pretty young (10) and just starting online...

Powerpuff Girls
Dragon Ball Z
Invader ZIM/JTHM
Sonic
Earthbound/Mother
Professor Layton

Currently in the Pokemon fandom and FKMT fandom. Pokemon fandom I've basically been in since I first picked up the games (when I was 10!). Never stopped loving it. I only started getting into FKMT a short time ago. I don't really produce anything for the fandom, but I look at the art and stories for it a lot.

I left the other fandoms I was in mostly over losing interest in either the source material or the fandom itself, but with Sonic it was just being really sick of most of the people in the fandom. I seriously haven't seen a fandom full of such vitirol ever, and I know I contributed my fair share of it myself.

So, what were/are you guys into?

I'm usually not "in" fandoms so far as I don't really take part in communities centered around things but do enjoy them quite a bit. I guess you could say I was in the Legend of Zelda and Sonic fandoms just for taking part in and running RP forums based off them. You could probably consider me part of the Homestuck fandom, moreso now that I'm rereading and taking active interest in it. And of course, the furry fandom, though I tend to keep a good distance from the bulk of it due to drama llamas both figurative and literal.

I am currently not in any fandom at the moment, I just enjoy JRPGs, Pokemon and FKMT but chose not to get involved.

Oh, I suppose the Metroid fandom counts as well, considering my neurotic obsession with that series' continuity (same with LoZ in that regard).

I like many, many, many things. Listing 'em? Impossible. Everything you like, other people like and thus, everything has a fandom.

Strangely I never fully considered what fandom I was actually in since I've long since disconnected myself from public places. But hey, let's take a crack anyway.

Sonic
Inuyasha
Dragonball Z
Megaman
Mario

Like Fiz said above, the Sonic fandom is so horrible. I actually still enjoy some really good Sonic art from time to time and I still have a favorite character but reconnecting with the fandom is something I'd like to avoid. And while I still enjoy Megaman a great deal, the entire fallout with Capcom and the fans makes it a little difficult to enjoy with someone lamenting the loss of Inafune or how Capcom is kicking shit in the fans face about Legends 3 every time you mention Megaman. My current fandom I guess you can say is Rayman. There's plenty of terrible stuff in it though, but nothing I can't over look.

I don't mean just 'list things you like'. I mean if you participated in the fandom of said thing.

I like Zelda and Harvest Moon but I never participated in those fandoms. etc.

I rarely ever say that I'm "in" a fandom, unless watching people freak out on tumblr counts as being in it.

I used to be in the Homestuck fandom. I got out of that shit real fast.

Right now I'm chilling in the Legend of Korra/Avatar fandom. It's nice and quiet between seasons.

Well, imo saying "Hey, I played OoT and it was cool" is enough participation to include in the Zelda fandom.

Well, imo saying "Hey, I played OoT and it was cool" is enough participation to include in the Zelda fandom.

I think we're simply trying to narrow it down to groups you have been actively involved in. ie: creating content, collecting art or paraphernalia, discussions and debates, things of that nature. I've liked, watched, and played many things myself that I really enjoy but i didn't participate in their fandoms.

I'm not really into fandoms, i mean i don't participate in them. i just have some things i enjoy a lot more than others to the extent where i might make a fancharacter, but that really only has to do with Pokemon and Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles (the original one). Those two are really my only 'active' fandoms in that I've maintained a steady interest in them.

Aside from those, the last fandom I was in (and really really involved in) was the anime fandom when I was a teenager and I regret those days so very much.

The only fandoms I've taken a part in outside of furry were Pokemon, Mega Man, Sonic and Yoshi. I'm still involved in the Pokemon fandom, but the Mega Man fandom is slowly starting to fade away, and the Sonic and Yoshi fandoms are... something I don't wish to be a part of anymore.

Men In Black
The 10th Kingdom

Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys
Silent Hill
Marvel (Iron Man, Captain America)

Some other fringe ones, too. Sandman, Disney, Hellblazer/Constantine, etc., etc.

Got involved in Sonic fandom, oops, screw that, that fandom is scary.

Joined a Spyro forum for a month. Even scarier. Horrible admin (Just one), dumb kids that used textspeak all the time, the RP thread was in the spam section and not taken seriously enough.

Still in furry fandom, less wank than other fandoms, good porn, nice company mostly.

Back in the early 1990s I used to be absorbed into the Sonic fandom, back when it was three characters: Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles. At the time I was also still heavily influenced by the Mario 3 fandom, as I've discussed in detail in my therapist prognosis. (http://forums.weasyl.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?66-Why-did-you-choose-your-animal-and-why&p=753&viewfull=1#post753) I eventually grew out of both for a while, and then got absorbed in the DBZ fandom, where I created my first fancharater, who went by the name Bazell (like "basil"). Then after that, I started playing Pokémon Silver, and, well...pretty much been a fan of that ever since.

Now I'm involved in the Pokémon fartdom. So I draw Weaviles and people sometimes give me money for it. :v

I used to be in the Homestuck and Pokemon fandoms, but discovered they really weren't for me and stepped away from them. I occasionally draw Homestuck fanart for myself, but I don't avidly read the comic anymore. I lost interest.

The only fandom I'm involved in is the furry fandom, but I don't consider myself a "part" of it. I'm only on FA to get commissions and make a few friends, really. Fandoms overall aren't my thing.

I used to be heavily into anime in general, now, not-so-much, though you can clearly see its influence on my artwork.

Now, mainly furry fandom. I'm also heavily into Rammstein, I love this band and it gives me a lot of great drawing ideas. :) Saw 'em live this past April. ^.^

I think I can break my forum virginity in this comfy thread here.

Really involved ones though? The major thing that jumps to mind is Star Fox. Resident Evil. Then the shameful burden of Homestuck fandom, which took a chunk out of my sanity and basically the last of my pride. I regret only some of it. Then recently Marvel comics stuff. (Fantastic four. Doctor Doom and Namor specifically)

I wonder if the others count as fandom since it was mostly me and my hip-attached RP partner who indulged in them/bounced things off of one another? I stray away from the large groups most of the time.

I've always been a huge fan of both Pokemon, Digimon, and Monster Rancher and I was also a JTHM fan when I was younger. I still like JTHM but I'm pretty quiet about it. Pokemon I still partake in the most and draw/collect cards/play the games/read the manga. I'm pretty far from any kind of activity of sorts (even for furries lol) so I just do things like draw and stuff. Been doing so since I was, geez, five maybe?

Speaking of which, I'm looking forward to B/W2 and the remakes of R/S. :3

I bounce around fandoms, but the one nearest and dearest to my heart is Metalocalypse. I first got into it three years ago, if memory serves me right, and I haven't stopped loving it. The fandom is pretty polarized- you're either one of those Horrible Immersion-Ruining Slasher or an Anti-Fun Wet Blanket- but I've met some incredible people because of it anyway. Besides, it doesn't hurt that the show turned me on to the metal scene!

I also like Homestuck (sorry for letting you down dad), Star Wars, Kaiji, and general comics and cartoons.

(Fun fact: Fiz is the one who inspired me to actually watch Kaiji, and she has my eternal gratitude for it!)

I suppose you could say I'm part of the tabletop RPG fandom, though my involvement has mostly been with friends and such. Other than that, there are many things I enjoy that have fandoms, but I tend to stay away from groups of people, especially on the internet. Furry is one of the few fandoms I've tried interacting with, and that's been...interesting.

How's this for being in some off-beat fandoms. There was a thread on FAF that, apparently, had sort of spawned its own sense of community and kept getting shut down. Being permabanned from there gave me more incentive to get involved in the offshoot of that. That thread itself being permabanned recently gave those members incentive to join in the first place. Though, this is a newer version of the forum, and some of those are older members who'd just lost touch.

I'm strongly considering trying to join some metal forums but knowing what I do about how fanatical people are about their subgenres (and, more damning, about those subgenres they don't like), it's making me hesitant. It's just I recently acquired a taste for black metal, funeral doom, suicidal/depressive metal, certain examples of death metal, and yet if anything I'm even more of an alternative/grunge fan now than I ever was. So I don't even know how the hell I would fare in any of those communities.

Another fandom I recently tried to get back into was the Bone Thugs N Harmony fandom. It is, and always has been, just a bit different from the rest of the hip-hop fandom. It's hard to describe. A lot of us aren't fans of the group quite the way we used to be, but we still have a sense of comradery for its own sake, knowing certain in-jokes about the band, etc. It's really surprising to me just how well I've gotten along since posting on those forums again, all things considered. No one infracted me for sticking up for certain people I thought were being treated unfairly, and damn sure not over my views on fucking game consoles. In fact, they're considering giving me mod responsibilities when I have not even 700 posts yet.

Compare that to here where I already have one, which apparently will expire never... Hmm... Yeah... Great Jorb winning users over, that...

Oh wow, I can't say I was ever in the Bone fandom, but I was really into gangsta rap in my early to mid teens, and they were definitely one of my favorite groups. I'm always surprised when anyone so much as mentions them, as I don't think they were mainstream by any means.

As far as the fandoms I was actually a part of, I was heavily involved in the Dragon Ball Z fandom (specifically the Ginyu Force/Frieza villain niche) for about 15 years, and even met my fiancée in the fandom. I also basically built the fanworks part of the English-speaking Ultimate Muscle fandom from the ground up. I was in with the One Piece for a time, as well, though not with the same level of dedication as the previous two.

But wow seriously? A Bone Thugs fandom? I haven't heard from them in ages and I would have never thought there was even a fandom for them. It's somewhat piqued my interest and question if there's a Crucial Conflict fandom out there.

Well, they were about as mainstream as hip-hop could get for the time. E.1999 Eternal sold massive numbers, largely because of Tha Crossroads. That had Eazy E's success as a producer and promoter which they would've been nowhere without, and were kinda lost after his death. Art of War did well partly because of the success of their previous album and partly because of appearances on film soundtracks and awards shows, but that was around the same time Bad Boy, No Limit et al were dominating the scene and they've kinda just languished since.

I don't know about Crucial Conflict. It's been harder to stay up to speed with them than Bone. I'm not gonna go promoting the forum on here lest I get another infraction for violating some unwritten bullshit rule that will never expire. Pretty much the only reason I'm not posting here more and stopped pimping this place to my friends, BTW...

I used to be pretty heavily active in the Metroid fandom, they had a good forum and everything but as the fans of the series got older it essentially turned into a fan fiction and art site.

I'd still say I'm in the fandom I just don't really do anything with it. Oh and animes, too many of those fandoms to list though, just.. Too many.

I've been part of the anthro-vehicles community since the early beginnings, particularly anthro-planes, but lately that fandom's starting to get a bad reputation on the artsites.

Other than that, part of some uncommon-in-the-west fandoms, such as Kinnikuman, Legendz, and Kochikame. I silently enjoy Mitternacht Marine and MLP, even though they have horrible fanbases; one's too cliqueish and need I say much about diehard bronies?

Also history fan of modern-era Japanese culture, which actually doesn't have a huge fanbase. (Most people want samurais or kawaii uguu pocky shit)

I'm quite the Warhammer 40,000 enthusiast. I don't really buy the models anymore (expensive), but I still hold an active interest in the lore and whatnot.

I used to like Star Wars a lot, but that's faded a fair bit.

It could be said that I enjoy My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, but I dunno if I'd call it a fandom, any more than I'd call my enjoyment of other cartoons. I suppose it comes down to how much you really like the thing.

I like cyberpunk stuff, if you would call that a fandom. I find it very inspiring. But it has to fit my interpretation of what is 'good' cyberpunk.

Dunno what else...

I -was- in the Homestuck fandom for a good two years, but I finally got fed up with the fandom and canon in general and dropped it, though I still write for it every once in a while because I'm stuck in a rut of not really being able to write for my own characters at the moment.
I wouldn't really consider myself in the Pokemon fandom even though I've been into it in some form since it came out stateside, since I don't really actively participate in any form of fandom beyond screaming about it and reblogging pictures on tumblr.

I'm currently in these fandoms-

Pokémon
Avengers (or just Marvel)
Portal
Doctor Who
Okami
Elder Scrolls (mostly Skyrim)

My main fandom is Pokémon, since I've had the games since I was a little kid, and I still love them. Other things I like include Harry Potter and Minecraft, but I'm not really in the fandom with those.

I used to be in another fandom- the My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic fandom. However, due to many personal attacks regarding me, my art, my gender, etc., and after my art was sold at MLP conventions without my permission, I decided to back out of the fandom. I still enjoy the show, but I no longer feel safe being an active part of the fandom. Which is sad, because a lot of the MLP fans I've met are really cool, but the few bad apples have spoiled it for me, I guess.

Kingdom Hearts, period.

I'm not heavily interested in either Disney or Final Fantasy, but KH is simply amazing.

It was the first RPG I actually gave two shits about, and one of the few I still do, having played every game in the series and owning a lot of merch for it, to the point where I got a stolen KH:3D store display as a Christmas present.

And I like Zelda enough to drive to Orlando to see Symphony of the Goddesses.

I used to be a LOT more into anime than I am now. I still watch it, but I don't care enough about it to keep up on what's popular or to know all the anime memes. I'm not even sure I'll bother to go to the convention that's held 40 minutes from my house every year.

I've joined the Wreck-it Ralph fandom, if it's not obvious enough. :P They're actually quite nice in there, people seem to actually be pretty respectful (though it could be because it's so new). So far it's been nothing but fun!

And I'm seriously considering leaving most of the anthro-plane/living machine community. A lot of my friends who moderated most of the clubs on dA left, and most of the newbies are either obnoxious or have extremely distasteful artist descriptions. I've joined the Wreck-it Ralph fandom, if it's not obvious enough. :P They're actually quite nice in there, people seem to actually be pretty respectful (though it could be because it's so new). So far it's been nothing but fun!

Wasn't aware there was a fandom for it. That's actually pretty cool, it was a great movie! Definitely want to get it when it comes out on DVD (or has it already?)

And I'm seriously considering leaving most of the anthro-plane/living machine community. A lot of my friends who moderated most of the clubs on dA left, and most of the newbies are either obnoxious or have extremely distasteful artist descriptions. It's still fun to draw machine anthros and I won't stop, but most of the newbs want nothing but porn, and I don't want to be a part of it.

That feel :c I left an oekaki once because of that issue. Good to hear you're not giving up on the machine anthros, those sound cool as hell.

The DVD's not out yet, it's coming out next month in February, and the Collector's Edition Blu-Ray comes out March 5th! :D It's a very fun fandom, Wrecklings are a sweet, pretty openminded crowd too, the livestream parties are always fun!

Yeah you know that feel too, when people get a little too crazy within a group. :c Still drawing them, just pulled out of the clubs! Machine anthros are pretty fun, it's cool to see how different people design how they'd look! c: (One guy's OC is a desk fan, it's pretty sweet)

I used to be heavily involved in the Unreal Tournament community, making maps for UT99. Lost interest in it after about two years, and after one of the main map reviewing sites went belly-up. Since then, I've yet to make a home anywhere else but the furry fandom. ^.=.^

I used to be a LOT more into anime than I am now. I still watch it, but I don't care enough about it to keep up on what's popular or to know all the anime memes. I'm not even sure I'll bother to go to the convention that's held 40 minutes from my house every year.

Haha, same here. xD
I used to be into anime a LOT more than I am now. I'll watch a couple series, the ones that came out back in the day that I didn't get to watch because of time constraints, but nothing too serious. EVERYTHING I used to do back in the day would either be because of school or anime. xD I could also go to a convention that's pretty close (Otakon to be precise) but now, I don't really have the desire to go because I don't really have anyone to go with, and I don't consider myself to be part of that particular group anymore.

Another one that I used to be in is the Pokemon battling fandom, heck, I even made and maintained a Pokemon League for about two months, but the people there were either really immature or just plain jerks, so I gave it up. I also hated how everyone just cheated to get max stats on all their Pokemon (Something that I refuse to do), so the only time I play against real people is on Pokemon Showdown (But even then I don't play much, you can chat in-battle, and you can image the stuff people say...)

I'm also not as into the furry fandom as I used to be. Back in the day, I would consider myself a lifestyler, however now I think of myself as a casual fur. I like that the people in the fandom are generally more accepting- that's a big thing to me because of the way I am- but they can be really stuck up and egotistical too, so it kind of turned me off of the social aspect of the fandom. x)

I'm part of the Sonic, MLP, Pokemon and Disney fandoms - though I've never really put myself out there or established myself as a big personality in any of them, my biggest promeience is in the Sonic fandom and that's mostly because thats where I started my internet adventures in 99.

It's funny because I belong to the 2 fandoms that are the most well known for their fans taking things waaaaay too seriously. Though I'm still happy to identify as a Sonic fan and MLP fan despite the dumb ones that spoil the broth. Though I guess I've been lucky to have never been bothered by those sides of the fandoms much

I use fandom loosely as in having an invested interest in something in particular, rather than actually contribute or mingle in communities centered around it. Fandoms in most cases are pretty much equally bad, with both elitists and younger fans sort of sullying the enjoyment of it and pretty much detracting from the very essence of what made it enjoyable in the first place.

That said, I used to be in the Final Fantasy fandom, particularly VII, VIII, and IX, and serieswide discussions on its continuity before the newer games just started becoming uninteresting. Used to be in Pokemon and Digimon as well but now only keep attention to those mostly for just character designs. Currently in the Homestuck forum but don't really take part in the whole mania surrounding it. But I like the story and the elements created and once in a while look for discussions to participate in.

I was quite heavily into The Lion King fandom for about three years in the 1990s, enough to have an appreciation for how much it's possible to get wrapped up in a fandom. Interestingly enough, that interest would likely have run its course within a few weeks if it hadn't been for the Internet community of fans I got involved with (and this was when "the Internet" was mostly ftp, Usenet, and mailing lists, before www sites really took off); it was the people, the friends I met, the community we had among ourselves, that really kept that interest going as long as it did for me.

Nowadays I can look upon how much some people are into My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic and because of my Lion King fandom experience, I have a kind of understanding of what it's like to be into a fandom like that as much as they do. I've watched MLP episodes and generally enjoyed them, enough to discuss the show with other fans, but nothing like the level of interest and obsession I see happening on MLP fansites.

Anyone else watching/reading some of TMNT/ Ninja Turtles? No?
How about Transformers?

I scrolled through the other posts done so far, couldn't see anyone else.
Oh, but I used to like Pokemon, The Legend of Zelda, Okami, Soul Eater a.s.o. a lot...
But when nothing new is released, or it takes too long time before it is released again...
Or is too repetitive (pokemon) you'll eventually get tired of it, you know.

For the sake of my sanity I'm only going to mention the fandoms I was/am majorly into, for I participated in just about every fandom with things I liked but usually to very minor degrees.

From like oh 11-15 or 16 years old I was really into the Sonic the Hedgehog, Naruto, and Neopets (if that counts) fandoms. I kind of fell out of doing anything really fandom heavy for a few years, aside from the occasional fanart. It wasn't until two years ago when I started reading Homestuck I started to really get into the whole "fandom" thing again. Fanart, fancharacters, fanfiction, the works. I also skitter in and out of the MLP fandom (I used to loooove the toys, I found some of my g3s) and I've been getting into the OFF fandom, but right now it's mainly Homestuck.
Forever fandoms include Pokemon, Digimon, Legend of Zelda, and Animal Crossing.

You know, after looking at this thread literally a year later, I realize my post had too much waffling and convolutions; clearly in that part of my life I was less sure of myself, but I can give a much more clear-cut answer now.

I used to be a part of the Neopets scene when I was in grade school, I also used to be into Transformers although a lot less now. Current fandoms and subcultures I'm a part of (to some extent or less): Goth, Punk, fantasy/sci-fi, GW2, D&D, Shadowrun aaaand...perhaps a couple more that I can't recall but I might add to here when I can think of them. I also love Pokemon but I would never consider myself part of the "fandom" and some years ago I might have considered myself to be part of the furry fandom, but that ship has since sailed.

The furry fandom is the first "fandom" I've ever actually been involved in, and it will probably be the only one I ever really will be a part of.
Eh, I guess I could count as a fan of a lot of things - but actually being involved in them outside of "I think this is sort of neat"? Nope.

The only thing I could think of would be Blizzard games, and more specifically their Warcraft universe. But I'm definitely not as into that as I used to be.

Then Rob Renzitti left, and the current show runner, though she is a good writer, and has written several episodes of other cartoons I like, just isn't as good in my opinion. Plus, since Rob Renzitti was the story editor, it kinda shows..

I was in an animoo group when I was a kid. I kind of still linger around that area, mainly because the anime crowd holds some interest via the anime that gets pumped out to us. Granted, nowadays there is a lot more shit than there is good stuff, but you never know.

I considered myself a furry 5 years ago for 2 months, but honestly, the fandom is too filthy to stay in with a clean conscious. The fandoms worst nightmare is the people that inhabit it, but honestly, it has some spectacular artists that I couldn't step away from. I hung around sites like FA (until the unforgivable happened with its staff.). Now I watch from afar, those artists, on their tumblr pages and weasyl.

Videogames, yeah that's a given.

Brony, well, the first two seasons were alright,...... as for the fandom that spawned from it, I found myself seeing something similar to furry being generated from it. It pretty much evolved into a lesser furry fandom.

If Sgt. Frog and detective conan had a dedicated fandom, I'd probably be apart of those.

But for now, I'm primarily in the pokemon/Nintendo fandom. Yeah, I can feel safe claiming that. And animation if such a thing exists.

I was same way. Too bad the fandom got self sustaining, though. I would've liked it if the show/entire thing collapsed when the good writers left.

You've pretty much summed up exactly how I'm like with furry; I'm perfectly content to stay on the fringes and continue to appreciate the better art, draw cool animal people and to be commissioned to draw them, since I've met some great people over the years that are a part of that fandom. I just don't delve too far (not that I ever have anyway).

Haha, I forgot about being part of the Nintendo fanbase. I'm not as open about it as I was when I was a kid, but I will freely admit to being a fangirl anyway; outside of fantasy, it's probably my oldest fandom I've been a part of.

I did the furry fandom thing for a while when I was a teenager, but really it lost my interest very quickly. The only reason I hung about FAF and now Weasyl is because a lot of the users were pretty okay people. The sheer amount of badly drawn porn has made me lose interest in most anthropomorphic art, which is a shame because there are some truly amazing artists in this fandom. Why I continue to post here is a mystery.

The art is the tie that will forever bind us. At times, it feels like I'm fastening my feet to an anchor. But then again, I never would've touched art if it weren't for those superb artists I had exposure to first before the muck of the furry fandom. I probably wouldn't be here on this forum today had it not been for a certain artist submitting when I was first linked to FA.

The fandom I'm currently most active in is definitely Vocaloid/UTAU. Been loyal to the singing synthesizer community for 5 years now and can't see myself leaving anytime soon.

Other than that, I'd say my top ones are…

• Doctor Who (moreso Classic than New but I enjoy both)
• Pokémon
• Welcome To Night Vale
• Attack on Titan
• rpgmaker games (Ib, Yume Nikki, OFF)
• Minecraft

There's a lot more things I like, but those I think are the fandoms I've actually been most active in.

I continually fall in and out of the virtual petsite fandom. Used to do art for a few sites like Icepets, Sobapets (defunct), Kaylune, etc. But I continually get suddenly scared away by internal drama, and then I just creep back after a while.

I think I use to be in the Inuyasha fandom, but I didn't really interact with too many people so maybe I wasn't? However I was sure held up on the YTV boards yapping and defending it against the DBZ fandom (something about Inuyasha taking DBZ's timeslot?), though I was kinda in that fandom too so idk wth I was doing.

As of now, I guess Game of Thrones, Final Fantasy & Fate series.

Huh. Did... Petz (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Petz) ever have a real fandom? If it did, I was in it, as an elementary school kid. (Also, Neopets. I was apparently into caring for digital critters.)

Petz fandom kinda morphed into Furry fandom. A few of my friends I knew through TPF (http://espp4.tripod.com/tpf.html) were into furry, as were some TPFers I think. I stuck with furry stuff the longest (obviously.)

I was also a real big brony a couple years ago. I drew stuff, had OCs, roleplayed, was all about merch and all that. I still watch the show and buy any of the toys that are particularly cute, but I'm not really into the community so much anymore. I just haven't been as interested in the source material.

Now it's pretty much just the furry fandom. I watch shows/read things that have big fandoms attached, but I don't interact with them. Just don't have the time or interest to.

I've been in and out of fandoms rather quickly, Actually I think I can seperate fandom participation by year.

2005-now I have always been in the ATLA/TLOK fandoms. I am extremely proud of myself because ATLA is to date the only show I have seen and been following from start to finish.
2007 had me in the Death Note fandom like any other dumb middle-schooler
in 2008 I became a gigantic fan of Valve after The Orange Box was released.
in 2008-2009 I got really into Jet Set Radio, because it had extreme nostalgia value blah blah blah
in 2010 I was all about Final Fantasy XIII, as terrible of a game as it was compared to the previous installments
2011 Had me really into Portal 2, And I also got back into Team Fortress 2, as well as Hellsing (ugh) SUmmer of 2011 was all about Metalocalypse.
2012 was all about TF2 and Homestuck.
2013 was OFF, Korra, I lost interest in Homestuck and picked up One Piece, and I nesteled myself into the music production "fandom"
and now in 2014 I am now fringing the outskirts of the Furry Fandom. My most active and enjoyed fandom to date has always been TF2.

Whew, what an exhaustive list. o - o;

My current ones are homestuck and anime, and of course furry.

the only fandoms i've ever been super serious about were criminal minds (of all things?) and the mighty boosh. when i was in 4th grade i was obsessed with tokyo mew mew, but i don't think that counts. oh, and, of course, i was a huge mcr fan for a while. still am a big fan, but obviously in a very different way.

now i'm just a heavy fan of teen wolf, which is pretty damn ridiculous. i'm also a furry artist, so i'm sort of part of this fandom obviously.

i'm a slightly-more-than-casual fan of the zelda series, and i love various bands and directors. my favorite shows that i'll talk about on the web from time to time are it's always sunny, parks and rec, and wilfred (god yes wilfred).

i feel so lonely without all these fun fandoms you guys are in sometimes~~

I started out mostly with Swords and Planets and fantasy fandoms. That moved into western animations and anime. This early obsession with barbarism moved into an obsession with dystopias, cyberpunk, and post-apocalyptic worlds. This later moved me into the hobbyist electronic community (radios), what was left of the phreaking and hacking community, and survivalism.

In music, I used to be batcave goth, and slowly delved into the communities around glitch music, circuit bending, IDM, noise, DnB, and plain, ol' musique concrete, beat poetry, the postindustrial/neofolk community, pagan revivalism, and new age/UFO religions.

I have some varied interests. :3
The only things that have lasted have been furry and survivalism.

Hm, let's see. Still into Pokemon and Sonic, getting back into Harvest Moon. Most recently, I guess you could say Skullgirls. The community for that one is pretty laid back (that's my experience at least). I stand in the shadow of the MLP fandom. Those guys have gotten weird...

this!

I enjoy many things!

Stuff form the past:
- Dragonball Z (the series, cards, drawing, anything rlly)
- Anime in general (since doh dbz is pretty much anime too :P)
- Pokemon (the series, mostly the games, cards and pretty much just anything)
- Cartoon Network :P lol
- Fantasy (including collecting, dress up and visit fairs)
- uhhh....many more I guess...what can you rlly call a fandom :O I mean I like gaming and movies, but not something in special :O Just lots of fantasy/fiction stuff tough!

I pretty much still enjoy above things, especially:
- Pokemon ^_^ forever a fan!
- A lil bit of anime, not so much anymore tough (atm watching Hokuto no ken)
- Fantasy/Dragons, will always be a part of me ^_^ (and a occasional fair-event)
- Watching old dragonball eps ^__^ lolol

I think the fandom I am closed to really "joining" is the FURRY fandom, the community is very social and full of creative and nice people ^_^ I like the art, and not particularly to sell art, but to enjoy other peeps art and the support everyone gets :3 Its very inspiring!

I always wonder where the line between "enjoying a thing" and "being in the fandom" is. Like, I was really into Free!, and squeed over fan artwork I'd see, but I didn't seek it out intentionally; I drew a couple doodles, but I didn't put a lot of effort into them/never posted them; I rarely ever ever read fan fiction of anything. I obsessively watch King of the Hill as a strange panacea, I even recently *read wikis* for some background info and **edited one**, oh god, but besides smiling knowingly at a gifset I mostly just chill with friends and watch it. I got sooooo into A Song of Ice and Fire (lukewarm on the TV series), wikis! fan discussion! speculation! fan art! but, I also mostly passively read what other people write, share a little, and talk about it with friends, I don't quite feel like I'm part of some larger community of people.

The only specific fandom I ever felt like I was "a part of" was/is Redwall, but as a fandom, I feel like it's mostly dissolved.

I'm part of more general fandoms/interest groups. Scifi/Fantasy/SpecFic (horror, weird fiction, etc). Comics (including manga). Animation (including WesternAni and Anime and Cartoons). The ~Art World~, but mostly just printmaking stuff, but I guess I'm always down to watch some indie or arthouse film or trawl through galleries and museums. Zines and alternative/self published press. Occult/Paranormal/Supernatural/Spooky BS... And yeah, sure, slightly more specific stuff like Furry, MLP, and Art Dolls&BJD. Oh and porn, I mean. Erotica, like even historical stuff that isn't illicit, I like that throughout time, humans have always been documenting their pervy thoughts.
I'm picking up bits from my partner's "enthusiast" computer hobby (there have been 3 new computers built in our place in the past 6 months @_@) I also like to read a little bit on various "crunchy" topics like small scale farming/gardening, hiking (particularly nerding on the Appalachian Trail), homesteading, though my practice is fairly limited.

I used to be pretty geeky for body mod stuff, too, I mean, I still am, but I guess as much as I appreciate a good tattoo or anything, nothing "standard" really excites me much, or compels me to learn anything really new, or follow anything doggedly. It's gone from "must know everything ever" to "oh yeah that's cool"

Used to be a fan of Naruto. Use to be a fan of Bleach. The first's godawful. The second I could take or leave. Waiting for both to end. Also used to be a fan of Avatar the Last Airbender. Long story short, I omni-loathe Aang and Katara. Korra I could take or leave.

I'm a fan of lots of different series. My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, One Piece, that new Flash show on the CW, Akame ga Kill. Duck Dodgers (I don't care that it was cancelled 9 years ago! It will always live on in my heart ). Just to name a few.

I used to be a huge fan of DBZ before I even knew what fandom was. Then it turned into Naruto fandom which I abandoned after couple dozen of the Shippuuden episodes. I'm glad I did.

I don't really consider myself to be in any fandom nowadays. I just like some stuff. I suppose I'm reluctant to say I'm part of a fandom because it tends to remind people only about the nutcaseist of the fans. I think I would otherwise say I'm a SnK fan, for example, but damn some people in that fandom are crazy so I'll just say I like the series a lot.
