I'm designing business cards for a client, and one of the contact details I want to include is the URL of her page here on Weasyl (https://www.weasyl.com/profile/thatsfurredup). Twitter (https://twitter.com/logo) and Tumblr (http://www.tumblr.com/docs/en/trademark_guidelines) both have pages dedicated to branding guides, which include a few different versions of their logos, but I couldn't find anything like that for Weasyl. It'd probably be helpful if Weasyl got something similar going on, to aid people in promoting their galleries here. Giving people the full "Weasyl" logo, as well as just the W in front of the beret, would be great. Also, maybe whatever typeface that is too.

In the mean time, though, is there anyone who can hook me up with a vector version of the Weasyl logo? That'd be really helpful.

Seconding this. I like to use social media etc. icons on my fandom business cards and just put my username after the icon for the appropriate site rather than a whole URL. Being able to get the logo straight would be helpful for a lot of artists.

As for a vector, until Weasyl does put out a logo, you might be able to use Live Trace in Illustrator on a version of the logo available now if that program is accessible to you.

I agree that any gallery/media site needs some sort of media package available, it might also be that this is not going to be the final branding for Weasyl since it is still in beta. I hope it does get an update, the whole thing is kind of a mess and looks very amateur.

I caught word that a new logo is in the works for Weasyl. I'm glad to hear it! Although the current iteration kicks the shit out of FA's logo (yeah, they actually have one, though it's never used anywhere but the forum), there is room for improvement with the Weasyl one. Although I know it's a beret, I'm not the only person who sees an apple when looking at it, haha.

I just want to remind the designer and the staff of the importance of creating a branding package to go along with the logo. If you want Weasyl to grow in popularity, let your users do some of the work for you: give them the tools they need to spread the word! That means releasing vector files of the logo and any of its variations, as well as information on colour schemes (preferably in CMYK, RGB, and HEX), information about the typefaces used, and guidelines of how to use all of them properly. Then you'll see an increase of people promoting their galleries here on things like business cards, flyers, or digital advertisements. The usefulness at cons is obvious.

This is something that's standard in social media sites. Take a look at these sites for examples of how to pull it off: Livestream (http://new.livestream.com/about/press-pack), Pinterest (http://business.pinterest.com/brand-guidelines/), Tumblr (http://www.tumblr.com/docs/en/trademark_guidelines), Twitter (https://about.twitter.com/press/brand-assets), and YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/yt/brand/using-logo.html).

I have another branding question. Can someone please tell me what typeface is used for the "Leave a Comment," "Comments," "Submission Information," "Submission Management," "Send Collection Offer," "Tags," and "More in Folder" sub-headers, as seen on every image page (https://www.weasyl.com/submission/321454/dreamweaver)? I tried to identify it online, but couldn't find the exact result. I'd appreciate the help.

Scratch that — I've figured it out. It's Museo 500 (http://www.myfonts.com/fonts/exljbris/museo/500/). See, this is one of the ways a branding guide could help!
